Two Hours (count them) of songs about Scotch and Glen
Imagine that!! Two hours of music inspired by the (former)bloggers favourite couple! Our very own Scotch and Glen. Wait!! Glen and Scotch (age before beauty)....
Younger, flippant, cross dressing upstart who although pushing 50 acts like a 25 year old. And the older, world weary, sarky guy. "Glen and The Git". Glen is forced to share his house with The Git by The Git's sister who blackmails Glen after catching him baring his arse to couple of passing nuns. Glen appears to loathe his housemate but over time becomes quite fond and protective of him - though he would never reveal this to The Git. "Glen & The Git" but who would play them? And what would the theme tune be (of course it'd be sung by Joe Fagin or Dennis Waterman)? And then there would be the weekly guest appearances ....Herni Hannah mistakenly turns up on the doorstep to give an Ann Summers evening with hilarious results.
How did you find out about the nuns? Anyway you have misunderstood - they were in a nursing order and I was showing them a minor infection resulting from an unclean needle used for my "Mother" tattoo. Could I be played by Nick Faldo or Kid Jensen?
Next door to “Glen and The Git” is a grumpy Scottish bugger who nobody in the street likes (I see this being filmed in Kent). The kids all harangue him coz he knifes their footballs when they come in his garden. He also goes round kicking dogs if he thinks they are about to sh*t on the pavement. He’s a cross between Mr Angry and the Warden on Dads Army. He’s nicknamed Mad Mac. He has a particular bee in his bunnet about The Git and is always telling Glen that he’s going to report him to the police if he doesnt keep him in check. We know why he’s so riled because in the second episode, from his greenhouse, he spies The Git in his bedroom in wig and undies preening in front of the mirror. Smitten and thinking that this must be Glen’s sister he gets his best duds on and goes a calling with flowers. On discovery of who The Git really is, he is livid (and also worried that he was aroused by a bloke) and can never forgive him and will try and get him at any opportunity. (This doesnt stop him from continue to spy from the greenhouse at the end of most epsiodes).
This all leads to the twist towards the end of the series when The Git has a sex change and, much to the chagrin of Glen, starts dating Mad Mac. The season finale is the big wedding and The Git asks Glen to give him away and we see them walking down the aisle. Closing scene is Glen going home, alone, after the reception. Slumping down on the sofa where he finds, stuffed down the side, one of The Git’s bras and a melted Mars Bar. Realising how much he misses him, he weeps to the strains of Holding Back The Years. Credits roll. (I know, I know....I nicked that last bit from Only Fools and Horses)
Feel free to put in more episode ideas and then we can sell it to Sky. I'm off for a weekend's gowf.
My Road-Rage idea based on The Git tasked with delivering Glen's sample, bus-lanes, the Polis and Madmetrosexual in his cycling Lycra doesn't come close in the humour stakes!
It would take them an hour each to list all of their aliases
ReplyDeleteYou are too kind by half!
DeleteHanging would be too good for them
ReplyDeleteAye! Circumsision is what they need! That'll cut them down to size.
Glen and SG or charlie and Cam?
ReplyDeleteSee weeks themes for 4 tops, however I think Baps & Brian will dig the Traveling Wilburys "Tweeter and the Monkey Man"
ReplyDeleteSuits their disingenuous natures ;-0
ReplyDeleteGrant Lee Buffalo - "Jupiter and Teardrop"
ReplyDelete"Just a girl who can't say no
And her sweetheart on parole"
Robert Cray - "Right Next Door"
"I can hear the couple fighting right next door"
Norrie, grrrrrrrrrrrreat idea for a sit-com!!

I've already acquired the rights to "Glen & The Git"!
They will be portrayed on screen by Alex Salmond and Kenny MacAskill, who have a history of controversial releases.
I will be playing the "Young Git."
Ha ha ha! Spot on Adam. This is brilliant.

ReplyDeleteInteresting choices. Would be novel if we get golfers and DJs to play the parts. Henri Hannah could be played by DLT.
ReplyDeleteIf it's Ann Summers then it's as you originally said, Herni Hannah

Sex change? Was the Mohel pissed? I think there's a wee bit of impulsive projection going on here.
