Do you think we should just agree...

to chuck it?

I'm no longer vlistening or contributing to Radio Scotland, the visists here are becoming fairly infrequent.

Vote as follows:

Chuck it: Glen was right 18 months ago.

Keep going for a wee while: I am in the Henri Hannah Optimist Club.

Glen was correct, but we closed our eyes, covered our ears and went LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA

I vote - Rhymes with Chuck it!

P.S. Is Norrie splashing in a bubble bath, preparing for the Barry Manilow gig? (Do not take your phone into the bathroom).

    We should be telt!

  3. Keep going Norrie. You don't have to create a new thread every day by the way. The old blog was updated once a week and we enjoyed that

  4. Keep going.
If it becomes a hassle, Norrie, maybe a blogger with a bit more time on their hands could take it over.
DC's right too, that a threed a week is fine.

  5. I think we all want to keep in touch - but fair to say we're a bit lost without the themes as a reason for talking to each other, or even mostly talking to ourselves, but knowing there were others around if we did want to chat a bit. If we were inclined to think that everyone out there wanted to know what we had for breakfast we'd all be sharing that on FB. I'd love to go on as we were before, but what do we talk about? I don't mean we're all so dull we can't think of anything that's not on the set subject, but it's knowing where to start?
Anyway, forget trying to update the threads, Norrie, a daily chore that just becomes a total pain for the person running it. All we need's a bit of space to chat on (and Adam loves space)

  6. I'd agree with that.

Is that one of your pictures? Sunset is one of the Panoramio competition themes this month.

    1. I took a series of photos when we had a week of glorious sunsets - didn't have to leave the house, and they were different every evening. But then everyone's got sunsets. Just had a look at that site - some great photos.

    2. Photo is lovely and is a piece of art in itself... I suggest we all head to Millport armed with SLR's (single lens reflex Glen!) take some pics and Gaie judges... a kinda NotTheBloggers Camera Club summer outing!

    3. Millport for me, I've not been there yet this year, a shocking gap in the intinerary. As for SLRs - gave them up along with film - rucksack's a whole lot lighter and the camera's always there

  7. I don't listen much to GIO anymore though I mostly request and I do check what's been played. Could you, or someone else, keep a basic space going in case we get lonely ;o) I can't post here from work but I do look-in.

  8. I'm in the henri hannah optomists club, but I'll confess to no longer making a special effort to listen to the show - the themes recently have been becoming more and more irritating and, as predicted, it's slipping.Looking at the playlist tonight only made me glad I visited the Ayatollah on my way up the road.

It is incredibly genreous of you, Norrie, to do this.. I suppose we're all feeling our way to a different kind of blogging response but . if you get fed up doing this, the old blog does still work, you know.

Maybe if you went to a page per week as suggested above,it would be better, we could all just relax and talk rubbish about music and megrahi and whatever comes up our humph.....

  10. HH Optimist Klub please Norrie & like some a mega thank-you for all your efforts.
I haven't been around recently as I've been wandering about in the wilderness (Fisherfields actually) & like you no longer contribute but I do switch on whilst pottering about in the kitchen, garage or garden for some background noise!

  11. i'de been listening to the programme for years not really able to work out what it was about until one dark night sitting at traffic lights in langside and it was bands with funny names....so i texted in 'principal edwards magic theatre' but it didn't get played but got an honorable mention...i thought that amusing...then i tried a song and that was played and i thought i could actually have some input into a radio programme....i felt empowered....then the blog offered another sort of platform......but underlying was always trying to get your song played just like everybody else.....so it appeared to me to be quite a democratic programme and that ethos chimed with me....and the funny thing is when i bump into people in places like waitrose (oooh, i know) and they'll say..oh, wiz that yoo on thon radio programme......i have to admit to being a get it on groupie , but no worries so are they they say and we have a laugh....its what lifes about isn't it? some o' they waitrose people as well are movers and shakers, but nice with it. so its a programme which has given me a lot of pleasure, a conversation maker, a point of common experience with people who are otherwise doing different things from me...that to me means good entertainment.....a bit of T time fun.......or you can take the Lydon b Johnson approach as in standing on the outside and urinating inwards or standing inwards doing the same outwards...oh you get the point....or you can become like david owen's SDP (remember them? neither do i LOL)...its very sad the blog has deblogged but it self imploded....there was too much criticism of the programme....who's philosophy is simple.....here's a theme....give us a song and if you have a good tale to tell give us that as well.....we might use it, we might no use it.....but don't despair if we don't use it ...there are loads of people wanting their song played.....and if you really want warren zevon....no worries ...tune in later on and iain anderson will probably play it...then ivverbody's happy. like youse there are plenty songs i dont particularly like but if i'm in the car and an abba song comes on.....i can live with that.
so can my waitrose chums....at least on the bbc you get a good standard quality programme.....commercial radio is full of awful right on non-pc stuff that has no place in a tolerant society

That was not criticism. That was feedback.

"Give us feedback!" implored Miss Babs.

"Bryan loves feedback!" we were assured.

      They asked for it...

I rarely listen to the show but drop them the odd email. Strangely I seem to have had a request played on clubbing night!

  15. Can I place an X in the hh optimist club box please norrie.

I think gaie's point about us not having a focus of the theme to kick start the chat is a good one, that together with the wee competitive edge of actually getting your suggestion name checked and aired might be throwing everyone a little.

I'm a relative newcomer to the blog but I know some of you guys are old campaigners, probably since it started, and quite frankly I think there is still a wee bit of shock and surprise at the decision the suits made.

Think it's still worth keeping in touch for swapping the odd track or two or even just shootin' the breeze...

Please keep on keepin' on uncle norrie

    1. My own view entirely. I haven't listened to the show since the blog died apart from having alison again when I got a song played. To be honest, there's no time to tune in these days; there's lobsters to catch or sailing to be done at this time of year.

OK Norrie, thread suggestion: What's your latest album download? Musical tips for the blogotariat!
