  1. Came across this old fave of mine this afternoon.
I think it was the scream every so often that did it for me.

Do you remember this one Paolo?

  2. Another, possibly fatal, disaster for GIO: the new programme page does away with the ability to check the playlist.

It's nice to know we're not the only casualty.

As for my own playlist... I don't know where to start, but I'll have a gander and reveal all.

    regardez youse

  6. Haven't bought any albums recently, I'm saving up for my Big Day Out, but I've listened a lot to

    My Morning Jacket - Circuital

I've listened a bit to One Man Army - Kassidy

and I've just had a quick browse through Driving Towards Dawn - Joe Bonamassa, in the vain hope of finding that track I thought was so superb at the gig. It had a brilliant riff, but I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined it. Just think, if I could remember it and write it down it could be the next (I Can't get No) Satisfaction

And I've tried in vain to get a track off Ashes and Fire played on that programme we used to listen to

Dirty Rain - Ryan Adams - love it

I've tried to like Bwani Junction in the interests of family supportiveness, but it's like Two Door Cinema Club and Bombay Bicycle Club, both of which I sadly got at Christmas.

    2. Hi gaie,
Could it have been 'Song of Yesterday' / Black Country Communion song.

Just a thought, know he does that live at his 'solo' gigs and it's a great song.

  8. I like Prisoner by The Jezabels from Sydney. I first heard them on a plane and thought I'd like to see them. Unfortunately they were playing Oran Mor when I was in Australia.

Another Oz band I liked was Grinspoon.

If you like country with a bit of humour check out Hayes Carll.

If you like Joe Walsh the stunningly dull-titled Analog Man is coming out soon. I've seen him and Jan Akkerman is better.

it was times they are a changing in spanish!! so i asked what it was and it was some tv programme i'de never heard of.

'sons of anarchy'...........a good album with 'forever young' by audra mae who i had never heard of......the song has put an entry into my diary...go to the deep south and seek out banjo players.

my most recent purchase is an ancient cd but an absolute classic...i'de rate it one of the finest scottish albums of all time....

    1. I'd have thought if you like Play Gaelic you'd maybe like Manran? I prefer later Runrig, and I'm a huge fan of Bruce Guthro and what he's brought to the band. But I also listened to the Band from Rockall's interview (Bruce MacGregor maybe? can't remember)a couple of weeks ago and meant to check out more - what I heard, I did think was pretty much more of Runrig, mind.

Another duo I like a couple of songs from is Martin & James - James, son of Jimme O'Neill, Silencers.

    2. I'd endorse Dale's Songs of Anarchy based on several months' exclusive listening in the car. Maybe I should get a multi player.

    3. I like the earlier Runrig stuff....reminds me of my student days and anything that reminds me of my student days will always be pretty good

  11. Jiezuberband - "Set Course for the Black Hole"

I was saving this for Space night but I'm guessing that it's not really GiO material.

The rest of the album is pretty good too.

  12. I really like Alabama Shakes. Bought the Boys n girls Album after seeing them on Jooools love Brittany Howard's vocals. Also recently bought The Slow Show's EP and tThe Happy Particles album and would recommend both. Bought The Happy Particles after hearing them on GIO. Ah the good old days.

Another couple of not so new albums I stumbled across and hit the purchase tab for were The George Benson and Al Jarreau collaboration 'Givin it up' which contains a few well known songs reworked in their own inimitable style including a vocal version of Breezin, everytime you go away, Bring it on home to me and a stunning version of Summer Breeze.

Also Fade into light / Box Scaggs which has stripped down versions of some of his hits and is another top album.

  13. Probably the 'newest' artist I've listened to is Amy LeVere.

Really interesting kind of quirkiness to the album, lot's of dark subject matter in her songs.
Female lead singer who plays upright bass together with a wonderfully creative guitar player named Dave Cousar, in fact all of the Memphis based band are excellent.
There's even a Captain Beefheart cover in there....

    Stranger Me / Amy LaVere
