Sorry to interupt your grandparently cosy chat but I need to inform you that a NEW BRUCE SPRINGSTTEN (THE BOSS) lp has been announced. This provided me with further bruce ammo to launch at GIO. 14 more songs to fit to themes.
My daughter survived the Hard Rock Cafe last night. It's quite small, apparently, though there appears to be an unused upper level. Official Ricky Ross hairpiece fixative is available in the gift shop.
Reminds me of Paddy Power's near collapse when they opened a book on whetheror not the new Wembley would be ready for the 2006 fa cup final and were bowled over by lines of hard hats emptying their bank accounts
A longstanding mystery was solved today. When Warren Zevon's Gorilla You're A Desperado was released it reminded me of something. Today, 33 years later, the mystery was solved it's Syreeta's Harmour Love. Now I can get on with my life.
eddie reader went to school in pollok which is quite authentic tho cant vouch for her accent these days....now frightened rabbit...there's weird accents.....kenneth mckellar used to stay in kelvin court,,,so he'll get my vote for the true west coast accent.....over to you ken,ken......david byrne played on the film 'young adam',,,bits of which were filmed doon the canal so i have a soft spot his 'the great western road'...which coincidentally is where kelvin court is situated...its really cool living in 'the west-end cultural village'
Once upon a long ago whilst working in the Dundee branch of Coral Racing I had the following conversation with a colleague. ''I'm going out to get something to eat , can I get you something?'' ''Eh'' ''I'm going out to the shops, do you want anything while I'm out'' ''Eh'' ''I'M GOING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT , DO YOU WANT ME TO BRING YOU SOMETHING BACK'' ''Eh. A peh.''
Inverness...East or West? I'd think certainly in a West of Scotland direction but on the East coast...or not?...hmmmm. Just as well I don't know any singers from around there...I've heard Norrie sing but he's no Cerys Matthews ;o) Jx
New Music tonight
ReplyDeleteZodiac Tuesday
Mixtape suggestions - i.e. no theme Wednesday
?? Thursday
?? Friday
Where did I put that shotgun?
Did you not have a Zodiac Glen? Strange theme about one car!
ReplyDeleteIt has been suggested to your L.A. correspondent that Kris Kristofferson's
Jesus was a Capricorn sounds eerily similar to John Prine's
Grandpa was a Carpenter
There could be a theme here...
It was a Zephyr. Did you have a good time Scotch?
DeleteThe best! My granddaughters are a joy! Not quite so beautiful as their mother, but close!
Apart from nodding off at gigs, did you and Granny Miller enjoy your wee trip?
Yes it was nice to see Zoe in the flesh. Granny did not want to come home.
DeleteSorry to interupt your grandparently cosy chat but I need to inform you that a NEW BRUCE SPRINGSTTEN (THE BOSS) lp has been announced. This provided me with further bruce ammo to launch at GIO. 14 more songs to fit to themes.
ReplyDeleteSadly, its another Greatest Hits package...
DeleteGit, Henri became a grandad while you are away.
Is this Springstten a cover act?
DeleteThe Dropped an 'E' Strett Band
Mazeltov, Henri!
Welcome home SG...glad your wee holiday was good Jx
DeleteMy daughter survived the Hard Rock Cafe last night. It's quite small, apparently, though there appears to be an unused upper level. Official Ricky Ross hairpiece fixative is available in the gift shop.
Deleteso where's wur social convener?
DeleteWaitin tae see if the Floaters get on.
DeleteTalking about it now - "worth a play"
DeleteYou can sense when a song is unlikely to be played when the producer mentions it and Bryan spits on the floor.
DeleteMy World Fell Down.
DeleteAbout time too
DeleteThere's a Hard Rock at the end of our pier. You can get the freshest of fish there.
ReplyDeleteBetter than a hard plaice (;-)
DeleteBrilliant!
DeleteRR Hadock
DeleteThought this would have been a shoo in last night:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwPKz8WfbWk
It was the last time we had the theme. Sent it in on their new "email the show" set up. Not convinced it actually goes to them though.
I haven't tried the new set up but email was working for me in the past.
DeleteGood shout. Maybe you went into the spam folder?
DeleteWill that become sliced sausage folder if Salmond gets his way?
DeleteIs that the referendum question?
DeleteThe Lorne and winding road to independence
DeleteIt's slow over on the other side today. 16 comments so far...
ReplyDeleteMight not know what a "mixed tape" is. Our problem on this side is the opposite - all our grandads still think in terms of 8 track.
DeleteYou're starting to sound like a broken record (;-)
DeleteI started off with reel-to-reel but I thought minidisc was a good format.
DeleteRemember quadraphonic.Failed because people only have two ears.
DeleteRemember Digital Audio Tapes - Real Life by Simple Minds was the first album in this format which lasted about six months.
DeleteRemember you're a womble.
DeleteGaie...I can get a special deal for a get together on 31st November. Failing that we could probably do 31st April
ReplyDeleteWhat about the 30th February?
DeleteCan't I am going out with my pals that night

DeleteThey're after nominations for the best debut albums ever.
Jackanory, jackanory, jackan....
Ahhhh those were the days!
DeleteWho's going to F***book it??
DC's list that is.
DeleteExcellent SG!
DeleteEven without the crane collapse, Adam, that stadium in São Paulo looked far from nearing completion.
ReplyDelete96% ready by end of Dec was the promise.
DeleteThey can always use the Morumbi if its no finished in time - but it will be.
Seems a lot to do
DeleteReminds me of Paddy Power's near collapse when they opened a book on whetheror not the new Wembley would be ready for the 2006 fa cup final and were bowled over by lines of hard hats emptying their bank accounts
DeleteIt's surprising how submission of a few CVF's can inspire contractors to acceleration mode.
DeleteLike Glen I cannot figure out why anyone thinks this is nearly completed. There are tow stands stll to be constructed? Terrible event.
DeleteIt's Norrie who'll sign the Substantial Completion Ceritificate.
DeleteFunnily enough that is a task I usually delegate...
DeleteA longstanding mystery was solved today. When Warren Zevon's Gorilla You're A Desperado was released it reminded me of something. Today, 33 years later, the mystery was solved it's Syreeta's Harmour Love. Now I can get on with my life.
ReplyDeleteThat's brilliant Glen.
DeleteNever mind that - did you see the other TOPOP links??
DeleteClassics like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrcstog9xhA
Looks like The Cisco Kid - or, for you youngsters, the Three Amigos.
DeleteWho gives a "monkey's toss" about outstanding debuts...
ReplyDeleteWhurs my bottle o' Jack?
We'll slay them with the old Punning Place Names tomorrow.
DeleteTulloch A Long Story Short ~ Spango Valley
DeleteIBM barrassed by Eddi Reader on Question Time.
DeleteGlasgow Girl
ReplyDeleteWhat's The Frequency, Kennet? - R.E.M.
ReplyDeleteWell done Glen!
ReplyDeleteYou'd better give the credit to DC though or he'll set "EC in the North Sea" on you.
The list was credited to the Sage of Cellardyke.
DeleteAs if that'll mean anything to BB.
DeleteI have never seen Glen and Patrick McCafferty in the same room...
ReplyDeleteYup, that list will get Paddy McCafferty's goat.
DeleteThough to be fair, was that list not a compilation of all our input?
Perhaps it should be copyrighted.
DeletePerhaps we can make a musical around the songs.
DeleteHa facebookers waxing lyrical about Glen's list until he mentions it was compiled by the bloggers. Then....not a peep!
DeleteNeither have I
ReplyDeleteHave Yankee Dollar and Fly Me To Dunoon not been requested the last half dozen times we've had this theme?
ReplyDeleteIt's like being on a roundabout - it all comes round again.
DeleteIt's the mock surprise and delight that gets me.
DeleteYup yer spot on Adam... What about the disc spinner "Rock DJ" inflection when he intro's Lizzy, Jovi, Zep etc.
DeleteI'm wettin' ma'sel with anticipation over the Festive Season's themes?
DeleteWe've no had 12 Days of Xmas for a while. Must be due a run.
DeleteI can get my 3rd day shout of "Young Paris Hens" - Adam & the Ants, in.
Next week's themes ain't too shabby!
From Chanukah on Monday to Hatches, Matches & Despatches on Friday there is something for everyone! Even the Fifers!!!
>8-D
That was cruel Scotch... I actual looked whilst sittin' here on the 23:20 Queen St, / Balloch.
DeleteLight, East, West, Country & birth, marriage & death.
Cheers!
Cruel? Moi?? True, we will have to suffer Scottish bands considered to be "guid to hear" simply by virtue of being Scottish, but 'twas ever thus.
Monday - Dolly
Tuesday - Saint Andrew
Wednesday - Dunno. SAHB, maybe.
Thursday - Charlie Daniels
Friday - Jake Thackray
Sorted!
ah dont know how they're gonnae fit that list into 23 tunes
ReplyDeletecheers frae the dale

Even Uncle Edwin couldn't equal their Happy Radio.
ReplyDeletewhere is everyone?
ReplyDeleteI'm here!
Deletehello, Billy !
DeleteGood choices for tonight. What are the chances?
DeleteAs I thought, unfortunately not.
DeleteMusic from Scotland's east coast - haud me back.
DeleteWorse than the west coast? Btw what about the Central belt?
DeleteAt least in the west you don't get those dreadful "authentic" accents only heard in recording studios.
DeleteWhat about Sheena Easton?
DeleteIf Bellshill's on the coast we've got more to worry about than accents.
DeleteThe west and east coasts meet at Harthill.
DeleteThe west and east coasts meet at the Falkirk wheel
DeleteAh, but in the West you get that dreadful 'authentic' accent of Eddi Reader's Jx
ReplyDeleteEd a dire red
Deleteeddie reader went to school in pollok which is quite authentic tho cant vouch for her accent these days....now frightened rabbit...there's weird accents.....kenneth mckellar used to stay in kelvin court,,,so he'll get my vote for the true west coast accent.....over to you ken,ken......david byrne played on the film 'young adam',,,bits of which were filmed doon the canal so i have a soft spot his 'the great western road'...which coincidentally is where kelvin court is situated...its really cool living in 'the west-end cultural village'

Dunfermline is a town and former Royal Burgh in Fife, Scotland, on high ground 3 miles (4.8 km) from the northern shore of the Firth of Forth.
ReplyDeleteSo not on the east coast then.....
Is that the goalposts being dragged to Dunfermline that I can hear?
DeletePars for the course
DeleteOnce upon a long ago whilst working in the Dundee branch of Coral Racing I had the following conversation with a colleague.
ReplyDelete''I'm going out to get something to eat , can I get you something?''
''Eh''
''I'm going out to the shops, do you want anything while I'm out''
''Eh''
''I'M GOING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT , DO YOU WANT ME TO BRING YOU SOMETHING BACK''

sounds more like the broughty ferry branch of corals...
Deletecheers frae the dale

DeleteTheme change on Friday.
No doubt due to events last Friday.
Cluedo anybody?
DeleteTwister ~ Get Over You – The Undertones (;-)
DeleteI'm rooting for Kelly Marie tonight ;-p
ReplyDeleteYou old smoothie (;-)
DeleteYou know me so well ;-)
DeleteSee originality continues to allude the "daft side"
Touched a nerve there methinks!
DeleteThis is what I’ve gone for
Delete...and this
DeleteGet in! Tee hee.
DeleteI think my "lack of Nazareth" feedback just might have annoyed BB & BW.
DeleteIt's a sad day when you can't push the boundaries!
Norrie, a new month so maybe a new thread?
ReplyDeleteGet in! Tee hee
ReplyDeleteAye Mac.
ReplyDeleteYou got raw there. And you were quite tame too.
Paolo, chance for Ludo Shuffle on Friday night.
