In a spare couple of moments earlier I came up with:
Scrabble ~ Wordy Rappinghood – Tom Tom Club Pictionary ~ Pictures of You – The Cure Rapidough ~ Bend Me, Shape Me - Amen Corner Monopoly ~ He’s In The Jailhouse Now – Jimmie Rodgers Twister ~ Get Over You – The Undertones
It's in Greenock library of course. Always a good selection of music books.Haven't read it though - hard to follow The land Lay Still; Got a recent Val McDermid which is just so poorly written - I thought better of her, but it's a sort of inferior Harlan Coben take on the Jade Goodie story, which I suppose should have been warning enough, but didn't know that when I started it.
Sorry Billy. Havent given you much support on the Board Game Theme yet. Here's a few: Cluedo: Whodunnit - Tavares Mouse Trap: Rat Trap - Boomtown Rats Go: Go Now - Moody Blues Monopoly: Take A Chance - Abba Ludo: Ludo Shuffle - Boz Scaggs
I beamed the Dead Swan signal out to DC last night so hopefully he'll respond with 50 or so.
There's probably enough in Monopoly for it to be a theme in itself.
Totopoly: Rosana – Toto War: War – Edwin Starr (but loads of other options. Its a theme in itself!) Sorry!: Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word – Elton John Ticket to Ride: Ticket to Ride – Beatles Caribbean: Caribbean Queen – Billy Ocean Girl Talk: Girls Talk – Dave Edmunds Top Secret Spies: SPies Like Us – Paul McCartney Fireball Island: Fireball – Deep Purple Through the Desert: Horse with no Name - America Manhattan: Manhattan Skyline – John Miles Ra: Clouds Across the Moon – The Rah Band Take it Easy: Take it Easy – Eagles Trouble:Trouble – Coldplay
Monopoly Go (Now) - Moody Blues Old (Kent) River Road - Lacs (Community) Chestnuts roasting on an open fire - Nat King(s Cross) Cole Crying in the (White)Chapel - Elvis Income Tax(Man) - Beatles King(s Cross) of the Road - Roger Miller The Angel (Islington) of Harlem - the Stones Take a Chance on me - Abba I Euston Love her, but it's Pall Mall over now - The Stones Pentonville (Blues) Road - Boy George Jail(House Rock) - Elvis Are Friends Electric (Company) - Gary Numan Bow Diddley - Buddy Holly (Community) Chest the way you are - Billy Joel Streets of London - Ralph McTell I feel Vine - Beatles All Right Now - Free (Parking) Do the Strand - Roxy Chance - Big Country Tiger Fleet - Mud (Trafalgar) Square One - Tom Petty Leicester Square - Rancid Whole of the moon - Water (Works) Boys Piccadilly Lilly - Tiger Lillies Jail(break) - Thin Lizzy Barbara Ann - Regent S(treet) Oxford (Town) Street - Bob Dylan (Community) Chest Another Manic Monday - The Bangles Theme from James Bond (Street) - John Barry Leaving of Liverpool (Street) - Pogues Park (Life) Lane - Blur Super(Tax) Trooper - Abba Strawberry (May)Fair - S&G
Monopoly pieces Dog Eat Dog – Adam & The Ants Cars – Gary Numan The Love Cats – The Cure (cat replaced the iron this year) These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ – Nancy Sinatra Iron Lion Zion – Bob Marley Battleship Chains – Georgia Satellites Top Hat, White Tie and Tails – Fred Astaire Needles and Pins – The Searchers (thimble)
Free Nelson Mandela – Special AKA Something Inside So Strong – Labi Siffre Biko – Peter Gabriel Mandela Day – Simple Minds Talkin’ ‘Bout A Revolution – Tracy Chapman Redemption Song – Bob Marley Give Me Hope Joanna – Eddy Grant State of Independence – Donna Summer Freedom – Wham! I Won’t Back Down – Tom Petty A Change Is Gonna Come – Sam Cooke People Get Ready – The Impressions Wind of Change – The Scorpions Freedom of Choice – Devo Freewill – Rush I Want To Break Free – Queen Fight For Your Right – Beastie Boys Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey Ebony and Ivory – Macca & Stevie W Homeless - Ladysmith Black Mambazo
George Michael not Wham, Billy. Dont want you dropping points. Not sure the Beasties will fit the mood. Also dont think the Scorpions will be played. The damage caused by radios being hurtled through windows would be immense. Without going all Kelvin Daley on you, this could be played
Quite a few kids at our school are not familiar with , either. They find ; and : confusing and as for ' lots of folk haven't a scooby where to put it.
What's Susan Hay got to do with anything anyway? Roddy Hart, or rather his producer, whom he calls Raging Bull, played Alice's Restaurant Massacree last week. All 18 minutes. Class.
as far as GIO is concerned the likesay us don't exist so I don't think she'll be worried.
Pre-broadcast pep-talk
Miss B " Now, Susan, remember you're only a presenter, you describe folks' teas and tell how they're dancing round the kitchen and then you put on the record I hand to you. Should you by some accident see an imaginative suggestion for a song you pass it right over to me and I'll replace it with 500 miles, Swim till you Can't see Land or The Bluebell Polka. That's us got the eclecticism angle covered. Remember, in GIO terms 'eclectic' means a mix of tried and tested tunes from different genres, the emphasis being on tried and tested - the listeners are in general not very bright and they think this is an amazing show of originality. Obviously to keep this charade up we will play over the week possibly as many as two of your own preferences thereby extending our repertoire to 24 songs. Got that, Susan? Just to be clear, I'm the boss, don't let the insane giggling fool you. I may not know much about music, but by hokey I know what I like to have played on GIO. Now off you go, the first request will be from Margherita Still, followed by Bohemian Rhapsody as suggested by Erik Zoha and don't forget to mention that Fergie's having lobster bisque for his tea.
Yeah, it's true folks. It's been in the pipeline for a year and more. We're off to Stockholm, lock, stock and 3 wains on Jan 6th.
Galen's spot on re furniture - we're trying to get rid of a tonne of our current stuff cos it's all IKEA anyway. Also a load of other stuff too - anyone want a fair quality upright piano?
Thanks. Happy December to you too!
ReplyDeleteI think we should try for another 200 suggestions for this Friday's theme.

DeleteProbably right about Beastie Boys but I was giving up the will to live at that point...

DeleteDifference is... you can play the thing properly and I'm a dreamer.
I'm going for Grade 4. My career peaked with a debut at the Maclellan Galleries and petered out in east end pubs.
