It can only be David Byrne, constantly innovative and exciting! His recent collaboration with St Vincent 'Love This Giant' was fantastic and the stage show at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall was amazing. I would like to hear 'Who' from this album.
If I were to suggest anyone for tonight it might have been Robert Plant, but I saw him on a programme about Roy Harper last night and he'd either just washed his hair or it was really greasy. It wasn't an appealing look on an old geezer. If you're going on the telly you should be better groomed - I've often told Rick Wakeman that, though I don't think he was listening. On the other hand, Roy Harper looked very trim.
I consider my greatest GIO moment...all 3 hrs of it...as getting 'When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease' played. I think only Harry fae Gatehoose appreciated it ...sigh!...happy days! Jx
Oh OK...burst my bubble why don't you...7-8 minutes. You wouldn't get that nowadays unless it was by Queen, Rufus or Dusty...or the extended version of Hurt - Johnny Cash. Jx
i head off to a choir rehearsal in clapham buoyed by the amazing success of the 'bloggers' who by entreist tactics are taking over the fb page...there was even an admission that your band is not banned gaie...progress....forward the 'auld yins'..........and after rehearsals is a stroll round docklands before heading to wembley for the NFL game....mon the minnesota (hubert humphrey's stomping ground)
I think it was revenge for being so condemnatory of the previous evening's show, but it was a small price to pay for the great improvement last night. They also said little about the evening chomping.
GIO has taken a back seat while we've been amusing ourselves in Chateau Hannah watching a DVD of Dennis Potter's "Lipstick On Your Collar" - truly truly epic stuff.Ewan Mac Gregor's breakthrough but the rest of the cast, including Dougie Henshall were utterly fantastic.Amazing performance from the lead actress, Louise Germaine, who astonishingly, left the business after this amazing triumph. Order a copy, it's superb..
och, anything to avoid trying to find some of our suggestions to play...and I spied cake...no wonder they have to spend the rest of their time running or doing yoga in a boiler-room ;o) Jx
a truly amazing weekend of listening to 'free music'..............first it was in the underground malls of canary wharf........maverick pianist......tokio myers....nice to listen to while sipping a cafe nero espresso...then it was wembley where the entertainment was tiny tempa and ........the bloke from kiss singing the stars and stripes..the game itself was pulsating.........
oh, I know someone who'd be very jealous of you seeing Gene Simmons. She posted a photo of him at that very gig and I thought he looked a bit OLD - how does that happen? Did anyone watch a programme a few years back about schoolkids putting together a band with Mr Simmons as their mentor? A real-life (well as far as TV goes) Rockschool. He was good at the job and perceptive about the kids. Well, I thought so anyway, don't want to stand on any teachers' toes here.
yesterday's GIO FB pics and sooking-up were beyond nauseating. You can see why Henri's banana loaf went down a treat though - don't think Miss B's scones would walk it at the WI baking competition.
i await the arrival of this troupe in the 'dale..... for my audition
the song.its...... better than the original imho........it was meant to be a duet but the other died before the gig.fred died shortyl after as well........the programme was one of the most uplifting life affirming ever to grace the small screen...............
Well, age doesn't come alone Billy - I have to dot in and out of the thing as I'm working and then I remember stuff - like it's actually 'Up The Ladder To The Roof' . My present favourite CD 'Artie & The Singers' has two tracks about the Moon which I'm really fond of. Besides I have to redouble my efforts otherwise Fergie from Aberdeen will run away with the show and Bryan's affections. The guy has had a whole blogfull of favourite obscurities played, but, I thought Fergie's shout last night wasn't a patch on Bobby Vinton - ironic, we're being treated to obscurities now whether they are any good or not.In the time I've been listening to GIO, it is surprising how much Bryan's taste has moved from C&W to Soul Boy. And people have been talking about Banana loaves again.....not looking forward to tonight's theme, already shaping up for a disaster on f***book.but will Eric become Freddie? Tune in at 6:10!
That was sneaky! Posting a comment about The Proclaimers then opening a new thread (:-)

DeleteI think there should be a caveat about freshness of product as opposed to money grabbin' has-beens!
DeleteGood luck with that MM.
DeleteWell said Henri, I agree that Macca's 'new' single is mince.
ReplyDeleteSorry about mentioning food (;-)
DeleteWas you impressed with Big Babs tarts?
DeleteI prefer her buns (:-)
Deleteuh oh Billy...tad over-excited there. I refer you back to Adam's Andrew Lloyd Webber comment...that should dampen your ardour! Jx

Deletesorry, Julie, events at work contributing to irony-spotting failure. GME? Don't get me started.
DeleteHere's a searching song
Looking for Shangri-La - Tribes
Gaie, your link doesn't work. Good shout BTW. Is tonight the night?
Deletesorry, here's another go just in case the Tribes ban hasn't been lifted yet:

Henri's right - Paul's had it.
ReplyDeleteIf he was a horse he'd be shot.

DeleteIronically BB dedicated Macca to Henri. Honestly you couldn't make it up.

ReplyDeleteWho won that race?
What's the weather like today?
Back to normal.
ReplyDeleteWhat are we up to this week then?
Got 1 out of 3 Commonwealth Games ticket applications. I've an interview for volunteering in December. I like to help people.
Deleteone application, no tickets. :-(

DeleteChasing up my Peter Gabriel tickets now that the Hydro is definitely open.

DeleteHopefully the rest is too.
DeleteMrs Mac can confirm it's finished & Rod is too.
DeleteBilly - mine have not arrived either.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Downtown Abbey?
Heard of Uptown Girl? She's the alternative. A friend of mine had girlfriends north and south of the river till one found out about the other.
DeleteIs it something to do with Petula Clark?
DeleteMiss Clark is 106.
DeleteGirlfriends North and South of the river. Tsk.
ReplyDeleteSomething by the Thin White Duke perhaps?
As long as you remember your Station to Station (;-)
DeleteThey're going daft with photos of themselves on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteWhatever tickles your fancy!
DeleteWhy such a fuss about Downton Abbey - it's not even on BBC? And all the dressing up. It's as if they've gone a bit mad.

More like The Mad Hatter's Tea Party. You don't think drugs were involved?
DeleteGo ask Alice!
DeleteNow there's a thought - maybe hand-deliver some brownies to the GIO studio and wait to see see what happens next
DeleteMy wife has that album - I've never played it.
DeleteBig Babs appreciated my PG Tips quip.
DeleteGlen, you're on a good run of form at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWell you would have been if you'd been credited with Sadie & The Hotheads...
DeleteI missed it - I just assumed they would have mentioned it.
DeleteA shoo in for tonight. Which one’s Dale?

Of course Henri...
DeleteHow can you tell that Glen's been deleted?
DeleteNow you see him, now you don't.
DeleteTonight has the chance to be even worse than last night's show.
ReplyDeleteIt's another non-theme - pick a record. Norrie thinks he's Elvis - no surprise there.
DeleteUuuuh uh. Uh. Oh yeah.
