Funnily enough i am not too keen on choirs....the choir at the Gram Parsons Tribute Night were truly awful to my ears but every single review or comment I have seen have said they were wonderful so what do I know...
I'd suggest late November or early December before the "Festive" menus kick in. Alternatively forget the food. Probably better an afternoon kick-off for those travelling a distance.
Norrie, you've always been a gentleman where "they" are concerned. Could you ask the question of the dark side why they blindly post a repeat request without stopping to see if it has already been asked for previously?
I have often wondered about that Prof - I suspect it is people on mobile phones (is that still the correct term I probably should say smartphones) and the effort of scrolling back on a tiny wee screen...
I'm trying very hard to forgive Roddy Hart for not turning up to sing at Coda Records one RSD...I'd have been more forgiving had I not had a monumental hangover that day and the other turns weren't that great. He was in Sunshine On Leith...which I saw on Friday and enjoyed...not great but pretty good. Always slightly irritating when the accents aren't quite right. LouiseJuliefromEdinburgh'spal and I turned to each other as we were making our way back to the car and both said..."you'd never take that route from Morningside to the station"! Jx
I'd like to like Roddy's singing voice better than I do, it's too clean, no raw edge or depth - however, he did a superb job putting together the Roaming Roots Review for CC this year and I'm very much looking forward to next year's California Dreaming one. Also, he was at the Tom Petty concert and he once replied to me on Twitter, so he's one of my top friends.
But not as top as the bloggers obviously.
(And I don't want to offend Julie, she don't half bear a grudge - I'm sure I heard that story a year ago or more and he's still not forgiven. xox)
I thankfully managed to miss Sunshine on Leith, but instead went to Romeo and Juliet. Line of the night was from the noisy group of girls who'd clearly come not to brush up on their Shakespeare but to ogle Romeo: - 'Aww, don't tell me he's gonnae die!'
Well, I managed to get through that week of FB posts and there was quite a stramash richt enuff. Loads of "love the show, Steve" posts to wade through though. Not too happy about that bloke Porter nicking my VOR monniker though (or was I the TVOR?) I noticed EZ kept his head down throughout. He was no doubt sipping cocoa with Norrie in the shelter waiting for things to blow over.
Mac - I dont think you should duck out. Stick in there.
I'm keeping out of the misheard lyrics since my latest one is that Daft Punk single where they sing about moving up on Mexican budgies...I've heard that song umpteen times a day at work for the last umpteen months so I don't want to hear it again. Jx
The perfect night for Dale...

What shite is appearing on Farcebook this lunchtime?
DeleteSorry, I must apologise and put that another way... What repeated shite is appearing on Farcebook this lunchtime?
DeleteMost popular is Rolling Stones then Elbow tyhen Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I think...at a quick count.

DeleteC'mon, Paolo, a bit of social convening required here. I sure can't wait to see KT Tunstall's guitar.
ReplyDeleteShe's supposed to have a lovely jumbo
DeleteNo choirs on choirs night - you couldn't make it up.
ReplyDeleteGlen,
It is my sad duty to inform you that this building has been reduced to rubble.
Now some callous bastard is playing Another Brick in the Wall
Thank God for the OFF button.
I noticed the other day. They gave us a tour round and lunch a few weeks back. It brought back some memories.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, but seein as a fair number of us no longer listen tae Get It On Again, why do we no look for another show tae worship?
ReplyDeleteMany people worship The Duke of Edinburgh. On the plus side, if it didn't work out it wouldn't be a long-term commitment.
DeleteThe Archers?
Rachooky isnae a show though, or is he? We shid be telt
DeleteWhat about the Ann Diamond blog? Or the Cymru ane? Norrie would get away with his typos on that one!
Sorry, just switching off U2
Have I missed anything?
Yip. Bar wick Green's been on
Deletethe Archers has gone down the pan too.
DeleteI listen to Roddy Hart on Alison again, but I can't see it supplying enough for us to talk about.
Now, if it had been his older brother Tony....
DeleteBilly and I are fair enjoying "Sounds of the 80s".
I'm not convinced Tony was that great on radio either
DeleteOh I dont know.
DeleteThe banter between him and Morph was up there with that produced by our hero and PB.

SOL sounds like Taggart. You'd need the Tardis to follow some of their routes through Glasgow.
DeleteI believe some cab drivers can match those routes..
