No! Not Adam from Rio silly!
However please take this opportunity to list your favourite crooners.....if indeed you have such a thing. This may be a challenge for MadMac.
I went to see Jamie Cullum once in the Usher Hall. He was dreadful but I really like this:
Jamie Cullum - Gran Torino
maybe as I liked the film....
I don't know but Ian Hunter is the Mottest
ReplyDeleteThat is a good spelling error. I'm keepin it.
DeleteFrank and Andy for me!
ReplyDeleteMr MacLean your challenge is accepted.. Señor Coconut or Richard Cheese have been registered on the Farcebook in a vain attempted to promote original thought ;-0
ReplyDeleteThey have as much chance of being played as Jeremy Forrest becoming principal maths teacher
DeleteApparently AKA Jeremy Ayre's set list included Don't Stand So Close To Me
DeleteAny Gary Puckett covers?
DeleteDon't think so or Lulu for that matter.
DeleteI see Henri has a couple of big posts in F*cebook. I wonder why he's stopped visiting us here? (I hope you didnt upset him Mister Glen Miller!). Julie and Norrie are there too. And Mad Mac, trying to upset everyone.
ReplyDeleteNext theme is Artists with 3 Names.
I'd never forgive myself.
DeleteAndy War Hole
Prince
DeleteThe Artist Formerly Known As Prince
The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Now Called Just Prince Again
Steven Van Zandt...
DeleteMM, Wall Of Voodoo!
DeleteAfR, forgive so I can let go... nah.
DeleteBilly, get in there. However don't be too disappointed if wee Vic doesn't pick up on the shout, he was probably playin' on his BMX back in the day.
John Cooper Clark ~ I Don't Want To Nice
Whoops "be"
DeleteWhoops Clarke ;-)
DeleteOuch!
DeleteBilly, Latino Rockabilly War ~ Trash City or Rice Brothers Gang ~ You Are My Sunshine or S L F ~ 78 rpm but never Manic Street Preachers LOL.
ReplyDeleteHanx!
DeleteI hear that there are two tickets going spare for Richard Hawley on Friday night as one of our former bloggers (no names just think clouds over the moon). Get in touch etc if interested!
ReplyDeleteNever mind that. Walter Trout's on at The Ferry next Wednesday.
DeleteToo bad about Andy Williams. At least they played him last night. Can't Get Used To Losing You takes me back to 1963
I'm more interested in the weIrd cloud seen on top of Schiehallion.
DeleteYes poor old Andy. I have a live double album of his which is oft on in our house.
ReplyDeleteOn Alison Again....
The Blog did well last night.
B&B need a permanent holiday
DeleteIt would take much more than that to reinvigorate drive time radio.
DeleteI suppose Stick Your ******' Telephone Right Up Your ******' **** by Kevin Bloody Wilson is out of the question.
ReplyDeleteDepends on whether you want the extended version or not, I suppose.
DeleteYou mean like a 12 inch single?
DeleteHelp me brothers and sisters. It is 147 days since my last request.
ReplyDeleteI just found myself in another place asking for Good Shepherd by Jefferson Airplane. I deleted it, of course, but is there no end to this torment?
(Jefferson Starship - The Ferry 11 October)
Confession clears the soul and mind to see the world in it's reality.
DeleteFeeling any better now?
I looked at the old blog to check the date. Your posts had been removed by the moderator. You spoiled it for everyone with your negative attitude. They were trying their best.
DeleteTheir best was never good enough.
Delete"Mad Mac - Blog Assassin"
ReplyDeleteI feel a film treatment coming on....
Here, Glen! I see on the playlist that Jefferson Airplane got played tonight.
Surprising - especially that track.
DeleteI've been called something similar once before .. it involved an incident on the Rannoch Wall ;-)
ReplyDeleteDid UK Subs "Down On The Farm" make the playlist?
glen miller.....tormented soul...and anyway exactly where did your plane land?
ReplyDeleteI've had a lifetime of trombone jokes and I'm on a short fuse.
DeleteI reckon Noorduyn Norseman was to blame for all your grief.
DeleteTonight Vic is looking for your science and technology suggestions. Great!!
ReplyDeleteYup
Delete"Tonight Vic is looking for your science and technology suggestions...were you one of the first in the queue for that new phone? Well what are the gadgets and bits of technology and science that have made their way into popular music"
Some classic F**ebook posts already, including
"Thomas Dolby, She Blinded me with Science. Hmm, too obvious. Blondie's Hanging on the Telephone then?"
You couldnt make it up.
Does 'space' fit the bill?
DeleteWell someone has asked for Flying Saucer Attack, Bia.
ReplyDeleteWill there be clouds across the moon tonight?
DeleteDoubt it. But we'll defintely be hearing Magnus Pike.
DeleteFor once, an original idea for next week's themes.
To whom do we owe thanks?
Wizzit in the pure jotter, man?
Save us lookin' .. what's happening when?
DeleteWelcome back BTW.
PS anybody heard from Gaie?
laid low with a chest infection, Madmac, thanks for asking; I'm better now. Sort of. 2 weeks till Rum (Isle of); got to be fit!
DeleteJust been searching for lost files on the pc and guess what I found? But if whatever the theme is, is in the jotter then it's pure coincidence, man.
If y'all click on next week's themes a page containing next week's themes will appear. It's a kind of magic...
Glad yer in the land of the living Gaie, hope you're feeling fighting fit soon enough.
DeleteAch Scotch, don't be like that .. the i-phone 4 is dying on me & it was a no brainer between the new motor or a new i-phone 5.
SG, you cannot be serious - these are the same tired old themes in a not very subtle disguise. Colours, days of the week, friends, earworms.....
ReplyDeleteI fully expect Stormy Monday Blues to be played on Monday.
I favour the Mighty Tull's cover of T-Bone Walker's classic.
That'll be after 7pm on radio 2 then?
DeleteAye.
Colours.. White Wedding ~ Herman's Hermits
DeleteCheer yourselves up with this
ReplyDeleteGood wee nod Glen.
DeleteOne song sunday
ReplyDeleteHas to be
Can't take my eyes off of you
We got the sad news about two hours into the hospitality session in the richmond suite (where four layers of security are on hand to ensure you don't take your jacket off) at goodwood races on wednesday. After a couple of seconds stunned silence there sprang a doo doo doo doo do de doo doo and soon we could be heard at the other end of the sussex downs. Nobody complained. It's okay to make a total public nuisance of yourself as long as you have that jacket on.
Frankie Valli nailed "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" IMHO.
DeleteWhat, even better than the boystown gang?
DeleteYip, even Morten Harket puts Boystown Gang in the shade.
Deletenever mind the old guys popping off, here are some youngsters ready to keep the music going
ReplyDeleteKeep it Blue-Grass ;-)
DeleteMy mandolin is in the bin.
DeleteYou know when you've been banjoed...
Who you kiddin' "mandolin" .. ukulele more like.
Deleteit's Julie who plays the ukulele. If she was here she'd tell you.
DeleteOne song sunday:
ReplyDelete"Dont Dictate" - Penetration
Who said Kaymar was rubbish??
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Europe!
Amazing. I watched a little of it yesterday and it was pretty exciting (to my surprise; thought golf was just a gentle sort of background TV).
DeleteSunday (Monday) song - The Old King's Road - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Song of the week:
ReplyDeleteWall of Voodoo - "Mexican Radio"
Not played on GiO but does anybody care really?
How's about that then?
ReplyDeleteNow then now then Esther.
