You muscling in on my metrosexual action Miller? Spit it out .. is it your liking for Croft Original Pale Cream Sherry or your Calvin Klein make up that's sheer nectar?
The current Fairports are really good (especially Tull cohort Dave Pegg on bass) having been together for 15 years - much longer than the early line-ups. A female voice would be the icing on the cake.
Oh good - since I still have their concert to watch tonight - I think it was a very recent one. I read Sandy Denny's biog a wee while back - what a wild, wild woman, but what a voice. Watched the Fairport documentary last night as well.
You would expect bands of old men to be slick but you can only marvel at the ability and talent of the 18 year old Richard Thompson pushing into new territory.
Yes - I know nothing about playing the guitar, but even I could see in the close-up shots that he was making the strings do all sorts of things that looked to me to be way beyond his years.
Sheer Nectar

It's an eerie coincidence that on this very day in 2010 his son Pat won the Over 50s Mixed Doubles title with Billie Jean King at Stade Roland-Garros.

ReplyDeleteSilver Machine must the most unmelodic, uninventive (Sgt. Pepper chords) and thoroughly boring song (musically and lyrically) ever released.
DeleteBut, since it's Positive Thinking Day - No Hawkwind, no Motörhead.
Classic Rock for me this weekend!
