    1. Oh yes!

      And I'll see you with:

      Mud - Dynamite

"Nobody knew her name, she turned up just the same
There was a knock on the door, a bump on the floor
      And the party turned insane"

Doesn't get any better than that.

      You'll have had your plea?

Julie is utterly ruthless, and, like many female wummen, will resort to whatever tactic is necessary in order to get her own way.

I can pay her no higher compliment.

      Indeed, I salute her inexorability!

P.S. (what did Julie say, and to whom?)

  5. Och, I was just joking. The wine made me do it...me and LouiseJuliefromEdinburgh'spal were out boozin' after seeing her younger son off safely to the school 'prom'. He bumped into Hugh Laurie in the NB...assume he must be playing in Edinburgh...even though I'm quite enamoured with Mr L, I don't think I'd like to go to one of his concerts. Jx

Mr L is the castaway on Desert Island Discs this weekend. He was also the castaway on Desert Island Discs in 1996.

      Was he with Kirsty Young?

    2. Oh! So they do eventually send a Radio 4 researcher round in a skiff to rescue them. That's nice. Jx

  8. LouiseJuliefromEdinburgh'spal's son also met Bill Clinton at the NB on Friday. I never see anyone really really famous when I'm out and about. My latest 'realalikey' is that fine figure of a superbly mustachioed man John Byrne at The Kings the other week. Jx

    1. I used to see Jimmie Macgregor and people from Take The High Road in Byres Road. Does that count? And Justin Currie in the veg shop of course.

    2. Who can forget Jimmie's six-part series "Potatoes" - you can still pick up the VHS box set from some charity shops.

I was at a wedding yesterday and my son-in-law met Billy McNeill in the toilet.

  10. So, nobody spots anyone world famous then. Now one no longer works at The Castle one doesn't bump into The Queen like one used to. I once met Richard Whitmore at a party...not met anyone else who's been on the Morecambe + Wise Show though...Jx

    3. S.S.E.B. Glasgow Clyde Area Office, Waterloo St. & a young cashier is balancing up for the day. Suddenly the main door bursts open and in stomps a huge figure.
Cashier is in the middle of counting... "Be with you in a second Sir".
Customer... "Make it quick Wee Man, I'm double parked" pushing a wad of notes that I instinctively knew was in excess of £1,000.
Customer "Put aw that against ma bill!", "ye'll stop the Disconnection?"
Cashier.. "Sorry Slim Jim that's the next window" .
Premises, his pub at Paisley Road Toll.
