No, it's simply that with some themes I can think of songs to suggest, with other themes I can't....

  8. After a fantastic response from the bloggers with over 3 people contributing random playlists, I will now add GIO’s playlist (which is only 16 songs presumably interspersed with gibberish).

    David Bowie Heroes
It Bites Calling All The Heroes
    The Selecter 3 Minute Hero
    Queen Flash
    The Kinks David Watts
    Lazlo Bane Superman
    Foo Fighters My Hero
Bill Hayes The Ballad Of Davy Crockett
Marvin Gaye Abraham, Martin and John
    The Libertines Time For Heroes
    Andy Stewart Scottish Soldier
Bonnie Tyler Holding Out For A Hero
Paper Lace Billy Don’t Be A Hero
    Enrique Iglesias Hero
Electric Light Orchestra Wild West Hero
    The Stranglers No More Heroes

The data from the lists will now be input into the computer and be scientifically computed using the Galoot Colognum Simulation random forecasting model software.

From this, we should be able to determine with 100% accuracy whether the GIO list is genuinely “you choose the music” or whether gullible listeners merely guess from a predetermined playlist, which is what I have been saying all along.

    Watch this space.

  9. Good to see Paper Lace in there.
There's not enough Paper Lace on GIO.

  10. Oh see what they did there, Andy Stewart and Davy Crockett, how eclectic. This is how the gibberish went: 'that's what I love about Get It On, where else would you hear The Libertines followed by Andy Stewart? Here's a text from BobontheB7408 who's having curried frog's legs for tea tonight. He's asking for The Stranglers 'No More Heroes'. That's really popular tonight, I think that's a must, Miss B don't you?' cue raucous laughter.

  11. Previously on the blog

Decided to play the game Thing Fish and this is wot I got

Light Me Up / Tom Baxter
Crumbs off the table / Glass House
    Baby Blues / Barry white
    So What / Liverpool Express
Give your baby a standing ovation / The Dells
    The Scythe / Dougie MacLean
    Cold Coffee / Ed Sheeran
To love somebody / Ray Lamontagne and Damien Rice
The sound of silence / Carmen Mccrae
    Caledonia / Dougie Maclean
Driving home for xmas / Chris Rea
I Useta Lover / Saw Doctors
The heart of the nightlife / Kisses
Westward Wind / England Dan and John Ford coley
    Martian hop / The Randells
    Rising Sun / Medicine head
Beggin / Frankie Valli & the four seasons
Mr Big Stuff / Jean Knight
Grazing in the grass / Friends of diistinction
Everyday is exactly the same / Nine inch nails

    Feels Good / Bobby wilson
Don't push your foot on the heartbreak / Kate Bush
Waiting on an angel / Ben Harper
Queen of 64 / Neil sedaka

Which proves that random playlists take no account of the time of year.

Also with weeks worth of music on the old laptop and only two Dougie MacLean tracks, they both came up within 15 minutes of each other.

    What are the odds Paolo?

  12. Sitting on my island in 30 degree C heat my thoughts turn to abscent friends...

Maybe if the disc spinner (who after all is the more knowledgeable of the Beeb's unemployable" continues to reduce both content & quality he'll be released for his existing contract & get his own chat show... after all the former FUN runner is now a self confessed middle/long distance expert & with the Olympics an' all?
