Do you think a certain Mr Kent on the other side is a secret alias for oor Glen? Coming in with a Queen request before slipping in a Johnnie Winter one??
Maybe she's on that dry January thing many of you go on over there. That or she's in the cell with GM, keeping count as he incessantly bounces the baseball off the wall.
So long Paul Kantner. Saw him at The Ferry in 2012. As we waited for the show to start a stooped, bespectacled old guy shuffled past in an anorak and trainers. My hero.
I listened in hope till some moron went daft shouting about milk on apple crumble. And now I've just looked at the playlist. I mean someone somewhere is just taking the p***. Charles Aznavour, Stranglers, Barry Manilow, Wah!, Lindisfarne, Primal Scream, Hooters - each with the only song that GIO would ever, ever play.
All well-known YESSERS of course, that must be it.
Well its that mankini time of year again but this year I'll be spending it in the land Butch and the Kid ended up. Maybe I'll bump into Glen on the run. Hope he's had his Zika jag.

Happy new thread Norrie!
ReplyDeleteCheers B.I.A
DeleteWe've had a bit of a problem with Glen on the other side.
DeleteThought you could maybe put a word in for him
Oh what has happened? Not seen him post recently..
DeleteIf you'd been reading your Blog you'd know.
DeleteHe's been barred. Ex-communicated. Struck off. He is an ex-poster. In FB's eyes, he has ceased to be.
Even Henri didnt get that during his Mr Moan spell.
Hanri followed up every moan with a sook, that's why he never got barred.
DeleteAs Nietzsche almost said: "When you gaze into the Dark Side, the Dark Side gazes also into you."
Ach, its no the same without Glen on FB.
DeleteI'm still dining out on the Anne Franks quip.
Didn't catch that one. Do tell!
She never fared well as an actress. Playing Anne Franks, the audience were moved to cry "She's in the attic" when the Gestapo arrived to search the house.
DeleteSomething like that.
Yeah, that's a guid yin!
Deletethere are two other fascinating museums in amsterdam,dr. max euwe where you can have a nice game of chess with coffee, free, and recently they unearthed a huge magnificently crafted chess board made by a german..the white pieces depicted the glorious german army the black pieces their weak submissive opponents and round the edge of the chess board were the names of the nations conquered by the nazis, in chronological order. last on the list was england - that went well. across the city is the versetzmuseum..the museum of the dutch resistance...in a glass case is a hand made chess set made of little screwed up bits of paper - made by a dutch resistance in hiding, just like ann frank - the fascinating aspect of this chess set, apart from the skill of making the pieces from paper, was this time the white pieces were the dutch resistance all soft caps and rifles and the black pieces the german invaders - just so poignant.

Aye, we're behaving, not much opportunity of doing anything else, sadly.
ReplyDeleteThese themes actually have some potential!
Who'd've thuink it?
Welcome back, Blogmeister!!!
Alas, the potential was not realised.
DeleteStill, there's always next week!
Oi! You lot get yer arses oan tae Farcebook. You non-subscribers are guilty of abandoning auld Glen tae his fate & the dark side is there for the taking by the bloggers IF there's sufficient numbers.
ReplyDeleteI need to explore the medium a bit more.
DeleteI feel no such need. Why get involved with a Dark Side bereft of humour?
Aye, but its like Mac is the wee Mexican villager come tae ask us for help against the bullies ower there who have already got rid of his best gun.
DeleteSo, you wish to embrace the Dark Side, Gringo?
First ye must shave yer heid...
Izzat Kung Fu?
That's right pick on the Mexican.. Donald will be proud.
DeleteNah, Scotch. He's just had a couple o pints.
Delete(one for our younger bloggers there....)
Why thank you
DeleteIt's kinda like Big Eck giving up on the Donald!

The only thing else you should have called was the shoo-in that is Starship. And Bryan isnt going to play Oasis if he can help it so that was a long shot.
I'll settle for 11 Adam. Sorry was looking for additional comments further down the page...
DeleteNot sure you've included the requisite number of YESSERS there, Billy.
ReplyDeleteOh well...
DeleteDo you think a certain Mr Kent on the other side is a secret alias for oor Glen?
ReplyDeleteComing in with a Queen request before slipping in a Johnnie Winter one??
Could be. Seems rather suspicious...
DeleteThere are more personalities there than in Freud's Vienna waiting room.
DeleteJoe Cocker gone now. This is getting ridiculous.
DeleteJoe reached his "three score and ten" a wee while ago.
I see the hit-man who picked up the contract on M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E got busted in Paris.
Memo to self etc.
DeleteHere Glen! The Liquid Entertainer isnt in there with you is she?
DeleteShe's been conspicuous by her absence. Hope she's ok.
DeleteMaybe she's on that dry January thing many of you go on over there.
DeleteThat or she's in the cell with GM, keeping count as he incessantly bounces the baseball off the wall.
WEDNESDAY
It Was So Easy - Carly Simon - from the album No Secrets
So long Paul Kantner. Saw him at The Ferry in 2012. As we waited for the show to start a stooped, bespectacled old guy shuffled past in an anorak and trainers. My hero.
ReplyDeleteSongs You Rarely Hear on the Radio
Tune in and listen to songs seldom played oan the tranny.
Queen, Blondie, Deacon Blue, U2, Oasis, Smiffs, (wiff or wiffout Morrissey).
You might even hear a Country song! If my suggestion is played. I won't hold my breath.
DeleteAll well-known YESSERS of course, that must be it.
Or is a French YESSER a Weezer?
It went downhill after Buzzcocks...
DeleteWell its that mankini time of year again but this year I'll be spending it in the land Butch and the Kid ended up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll bump into Glen on the run. Hope he's had his Zika jag.
Have a great trip. Send us a postcard!
DeleteWhere I'm going they dont have postcards. Nothing worth putting on them.
DeleteDefinitely something familiar about EK on the FB page.
Actually, thats not fair on the place. This is where I'm heading.
Deletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Fuerte_de_Samaipata
Can't see a Starbucks.
DeleteThey played this on Sunday - have you seen it, Norrie? Neil made it specially for the first Bert Inspired gig.
ReplyDeleteSee what happens when Adam's away. Place just falls apart.
ReplyDeleteThey played a Warren Zevon song on Tuesday that made no mention whatsoever of mooning werewolves in the capital of Englandshire.
I wonder who requested it?
Eric Kent?
DeleteThat was me. Somebody else requested it too. No not Eric...
DeleteSaw Rich Hall last night. At the Birnam arts centre of all places. Absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rich gives great value for money!
Ill Larch

Certainly not his best haircut...
Better than what it became. Not sure I like the beard nowadays either. Looks mean sitting next to Martin O Neill.
DeleteNo shouts for this yet!

Billy?
Surprised Julie hasnt been on with this.
DeleteThink she's a fan..

Your shout is in now Adam.
DeleteThanks Billy, I saw that.
DeleteBut whats more, the Liquid Entertainer is back! And asking for Nothing Slurred, sorry, Rhymed.
What a gal.
Simon Le Bon exhorting James Bond to "dance into the fire" was not too clever.
ReplyDeleteIt's all fun and games till someone loses an eye.
DeleteA Wellwisher in Boston
Cauld up there Glen is it no?
DeleteSunny today and snow gone. Squirrels out.
Deleteout.
Of course we all remember “King of the Cops” by Billy Howard (my shout for tonight Billy, please)
ReplyDeleteBut I had no idea this existed. A lost classic I’d say.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3SXX-SXfl0
How could we possibly forget? The disco version seems very similar...
DeleteSome fine lyrics though.
DeleteNot as good as the Barron Knights with the likes of "There's a dentist in Birmingham....." but close.
Any traffic control here requires the presence of a State Trooper. Is there a song in that?
DeleteSarah Brightman lost her heart to one.
Speaking of heart...
GOOD NEWS - Heart are playing GRCH in July.
BAD NEWS - According to Heart's website, the gig is sold out.
I saw them in Edinburgh in 1988. Best concert ever. Pity tickets all gone. Not sure about the venue, though, like The Tubes at King Tut's.
DeleteSomebody has asked for their all time favourite song. The song above all others...and she cant even spell it!
ReplyDeletePoor turnout today on the other side. Its half past fower and there are only 25 hits. Good chance of getting the record Billy.
ReplyDeleteAnd does the Boston link confirm our suspicions then??
Of course.
Delete"I LOST MY HEART TO A MASS. STATE TROOPER"
There is a book by David Hepworth about to come out. Its called "1971" I think. In it he makes a case for 71 being the most important year ever for Rock Music.
ReplyDeleteI think in the past on these pages Ive suggested 1972 as being that, though I think there is an argument for 1976.
Anyway, I hear the book is a good read.
He's my age so he should know what he's talking about but the classic albums he refers to were mainly from acts formed and honed in the 60s.
ReplyDeleteHe does say that 1965 is the year of the pop single.
DeleteI think you'll find that just by looking at the number ones of 65 compared to 71 or even 72 - there's no contest.
Deletehttp://www.everyhit.com/number2.html
TUESDAY
Another Warren Zevon song on Tuesday that makes no mention whatsoever of mooning werewolves in the capital of Englandshire.
time for Billy to put up the ultimate playlist then for Monday. How many ways can they devise to say 'songs that I (not me) like'?
DeleteI can see that I'm just going to have to
ReplyDeletescore another goal while youse are all sleeping.

don't think it has, Adam. Worth a try, just don't ask me to suggest it or it'll go in the sin-bin.
DeleteThere's Princess, Twinkle, Rainbow, Children's Newspaper - well maybe not that
Twinkle! I'd forgotten about Twinkle.
DeleteCant think of a song though, can you?
This is a Hyundai ad that featured Jim's Bimbo. Was it shown in the UK? Cant imagine the H&S brigade letting this through.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H6bwGztMdA
Terry.
DeleteCan't remember the ad, but then we never had ITV for years. It would fail the H&S on so many levels now I remember the song well though.
Good idea Adam. How can I shoehorn 2000 AD in?
DeleteYou'll manage Billy. You're a marvel. Uncanny at this sort of thing.
DeleteTUESDAY

Warren's becoming a bit of a regular on GiO.
Deletecan we assume then that Fergie, Erik, Patrick or Marguerita suggested him at some point, thereby earning him the GIO seal of approval?
DeleteWarren is also Iain Anderson's featured songwriter.
DeletePoor showing today on t'other side.
ReplyDeleteHere Glen, you're going to give your self away with comments like that.
NEWSFLASH!
ReplyDeleteKiki Dee & Carmelo Luggeri are playing at Woodend Bowling Club, Jordanhill on Guy Fawkes' night.
That can't be true. They close bowling clubs that night because of the danger of heart attacks from sudden noises.
DeleteDo I detect a slight bias?
I have never seen a bowling club flag at full mast.
DeleteAt my cousin's husband's funeral, his bowling club's flag was draped over the coffin.
Dunno it it's peculiar to Fife. Or mibbe Methil...

ReplyDeleteStage 3 of the complaints process.
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
DeleteThough, as your chum BA would say, it looks like they've got you bang bang to rights.
Do you think every complaint is treated like this? Is this what you lot pay your license fee for??
I certainly didn't ask for a Jimmy Savile record (if one existed) and there doesn't seem to be any guidance about the suitability of artistes (murderers welcome).
DeleteYes, the Saville thing was odd.
DeleteAre you taking it to Stage 4?
He's gonna Take it to the Limit.
DeleteJack Savoretti was ace last night, and good to meet up with Paolopablo and Imelda there.
Ah Pablito and the lovely Imelda!
DeleteHow are they both?
They're well, Adam. You coming over this year?
DeleteDont think so. Organising this at the moment.

ReplyDeleteMemories of dragging Norrie along to a Jethro Tull gig at the Glasgow's Pavilion Theatre.
The Mighty Tull were Pure Mince!!!
It's enough to play the flute standing on one leg. No one expects him to do it well.
DeleteNorrie made a feeble excuse and buggered off early.
Who can blame him? Certainly not I!
Worse even than the gig at Bristol's Colston Hall, where it seemed a cat was put in charge of the mixing console.
