If you're tiptoeing around here, DC, Rab Noakes was in grand form in Greenock Beacon on Saturday. Glad he's returned to health with no damage to his voice.
Oh see, I'm so used to 'kicked off' meaning a kid's been throwing chairs around the classroom I thought you meant there had been a rammy in the GIO studio. High time someone shook them up a bit.
Actually, after a futile wait in a very slow queue at GRCH, I was informed that the tickets go on sale tomorrow. I informed the informer that one of her fellow issuer of tickets had informed me otherwise, but to no avail.

You've over looked some of my favourites.. Rezillos aka Revillos, Cuban Heels, Shakin' Pyramids, Skids, Associates, SAHB, Midge Ure, Gerry Rafferty, Lulu, Marmalade, Jack Bruce, Lena Zavaroni & Andy Stewart.
It's Wet, Wet, Wet this morning. Betcha it's dry in Nazareth never mind their homage to the Big Country. Sad when the Humblebums and Average White Band are second best to those in the colonies tuning in digitally.
What's wrong with Uncle Vic? I used to think he played better tunes than BB. And I'm happy with Scottish bands as a theme. I'm going to give it a go and if Billy's predictions are correct then I'll admit I was wrong (yet again). Can't go on listening to he Archers anyhow, it's become completely ridiculous.
Just been listening to (Scottish) band called River 68s. What a superb voice their singer has. Touch of the Frankie Millers, though with a better range maybe. I'll post a link so youse can all hear it too.
Aye 'wee vic' has eventually succumbed to the blandness that is Radio Scotland's drive time. BTW what did you make of the Mr & Mrs video for Wednesday... he's attempting to get into acting & her into radio.
Whatever's Written In Your Heart -Gerry Rafferty Boxes - Roddy Hart If Ever There Is Gladness - The Hazey Janes The Shape Of Things To Come – The Headboys Messiah - Prides Top of the Pops - The Rezillos Faith Healer - SAHB I Could Give You All That You Don’t Want – The Twilight Sad Free - Twin Atlantic Get It Wrong – The Winter Tradition
The blonde girl is his friend. Is there any good new Christmas albums this year? I heard Emily Smith on Janis Forsyth on Monday an she seemed OK, but nothin other than that. C'way MZ Broon, you usually hae some good recs
Just added Iain Morrison to my Christmas wish list but not overwhelmed with ideas for others. I'm following Alan Morrison's top 50 list on Twitter, but I haven't really listened to any of them properly apart from Pale Fire, which was out early this year and hasn't been off my ipod since. Rachel Sermanni's Tied to the Moon is good too. Not thrilled with Django Django's second album. Saw them at The Quay Sessions, thanks to Frank, who could use his tickets owing to painting for the Turner Prize. Thought they were very good live and got the album on the strength of that. Disappointment. I like Idlewild's Everything Ever Written.
I didn't take to her at all till I heard her live...twice. ..and chatted to her. Interesting. ..Kate Bush -ish..i like her now. Don't like her dress sense...reminds me of the frumpy stuff we wore in the eighties. Jx
Well, you just go rushing in there in the morning with your list like a rabid McCafferty and dont think it through properly. Then everybody comes in afterwards following your lead. :)
And a bit of constructive criticism should never get in the way of requesting Pussycat for a chum.
Nobody followed my lead as I initially chose songs that never stood any chance of being played. The list was whittled down as I thought of other less pointless requests.
Was tempted as I choked on my sandwich yesterday... I know Big Eck thinks Norway is a model state but there's approximately 61k at Parkhead who'd disagree ;-0 Had to resist the best Bond Track ever because I play within the rules 'Living Daylights"
I recall Derek Lord playing the baddie at the Pavilion Theatre. He responded to the kids' booing and hissing thus - "I hate children! I especially hate Scottish children!! Sitting there, with your ginger hair and freckles!!!"
Billy did you see Man of Moon at that festival thingy you were at? I thought they were excellent last night supporting The Twilight Sad. Was a brilliant gig altogether though certainly the loudest and strobe-iest I've ever been to.
Tonight's programme is not just about the kids, young people, youth call them what you will. Its by them, its for them. Its their input (along with Billy the Kid from Alloa's) thats going to make the show.
Ach. She probably just tutted and put it down to a brief regression to your smutty teenage self. Probably because you've got too much time on your hands (even at this time of year!). Unfortunate but not unendearing. Certainly not a deal breaker. Make it up to her with a Rupert Holmes link.
Well, that is 7 of the 12 Days sorted!
THIS is what you can get me.
ReplyDeleteSend us a wee recording of you playing first and we'll see you if you're worth it.

ReplyDeleteBonnie Raitt playing at GRCH on Sunday, May 29th. 2016
Tickets on sale NOW!!!
Actually, after a futile wait in a very slow queue at GRCH, I was informed that the tickets go on sale tomorrow. I informed the informer that one of her fellow issuer of tickets had informed me otherwise, but to no avail.

Major storm here. People may be battening down the hatches.

We could ask Bryan to play Randy Scouse Git

ReplyDeleteOn any other show the best of America would make a great programme.
DeleteLet's see how many Canadians we can sneak by the producer.
>8-D
It says songs about America.
ReplyDeleteA chance for Pussycat to get on, maybe.
I think they must have changed it. Several days left for further goalpost mobility. Keep your powder dry.
DeleteI see Henri has just waltzed back in after all this time with not so much as a by your leave!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too.
DeleteNae Kinks, nae Everlys and nae Lieutenant Pigeon.
DeleteWhat is the ither side coming to, Billy?
(I'm asking you coz you're clearly the boss over there)
Don't worry they'll be on though not so sure about Lieutenant Pigeon. Also not sure about being the boss. Wouldn't want to step on Mad Mac's toes.
DeleteOuch! FFS what size of shoes do you wear?

Very good SG.
DeleteWilliam.. it was a rant, accuracy is secondary!
DeleteYes.. Scotch, accurate, sardonic turn of phrase. I really do miss the blog banter.
So do they BTW, that's the reason for ever increasing incidence of weak themes.
DeleteWhat's wrong with Uncle Vic? I used to think he played better tunes than BB. And I'm happy with Scottish bands as a theme. Next week - Ross MacFadyen followed by Clare Grogan. (Spot the deliberate mistake).

An extra i in Ms Grogan's name. What's a privy got to do with it?
