Visiting son and family in Boston. Don't announce it for burglars like Norrie does. Lucinda was on at Cape Cod. Usual whooping US audience and song dedicated to gun massacre victims.Missed Patti Smith. Did she have more than one record? Passed within 111 km of Asbury Park.
I'd think Glasgow since we were in Edinburgh last time? Weekends preferred? Don't ask me to suggest a venue, I'm completely unacquainted with Glasgow's pubs, but if it's somewhere I can hear folk talk in that would be a big plus.
I'll try again. Glasgow Fair Saturday is 18th - my guess is that would be best avoided? So maybe 24th or 25th if a weekend is preferred? FFS could someone give me some input other than 'whatever'? Please.
I have pencilled in the 24th but it will be a new experience as I'm only used to cheap Chinese and entertaining Norrie as half of the Chuckle Brothers.
the old grumpies on FB Apollo page don't seem to have been very happy with last night's gig - what say you, Billy? Mind you, they're never happy except when reminiscing about the wonders of the Apollo and if only it could be rebuilt and how tickets only cost 2/6 and what fun it was wondering if the balcony would finally come down tonight.
I thought the gig was excellent apart from the bammers trying to push their way to the front. Probably the same folk moaning about it not being at the Apollo...
Robson Green (:-(
ReplyDeleteChuckle Brothers? For a man making a career out of pub demolition you've got a lot to say for yourself.
ReplyDeleteSaw Lucinda Williams last Friday. Great band but very few laughs.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back GM. Where hae ye been?
DeleteWould like to see her, some great albums and songs. Were you at Patti Smith?

DeleteThat sounds like a fantastic trip Glen - hope they are all doing well. So near to Asbury park as well.....Patti was outstanding.
DeleteI see EZ shares a birthday with Freddie Mercury and Debbie Harry. Uncanny that.
ReplyDeleteDo you think The Proclaimers share a birthday?
In Edinburgh they'd be lucky to share a father.
DeleteOi! Jx
DeleteNorrie, Toyah is on "Sounds of the 80s" (available on Alison Again) this week.
ReplyDeleteLooking fit!!
Girls and boys, you said you wanted a get-together - when and where? I'm free after 8th July.
ReplyDelete14th. - 26th. is good for me.
Wherever suits.
Give me a time & a place please & I'll confirm one way or another.
DeleteAny time in July apart from 11th and 12th. Glasgow preferably.
DeleteI think we should take turns having it in our homes - Norrie first.
DeleteWho knows where I could be living by then...
DeleteAnytime July for me.

24th would be better for me.
Delete24th is ideal Gaie. If we get concensus I will sort out a venue and get in touch with some who are not regularly on here.
DeleteWhat have Franz Ferdinand and Sparks to do with it?
Delete24th. is good for me.
If concensus means identifying as Jedi on an official form, I hope we get it.
But let's not Force the issue...
24th seems good. Paolo Pablo's in too and I've pm'd Henri on FB. I don't seem to have his e-mail.
DeleteFranz Ferdinand and Sparks said they'd come along and do a couple of songs for us.
Whatever
DeleteCan we assume that the Liquid Entertainer is on her hols??
ReplyDeleteSome stellar posts tonight. And she's just ignored!
I would extend an invitation to her for the 24th.
think we'll wait till you come over, Adam, she can entertain you for the evening...
DeleteShe can drive us home.
DeleteI have pencilled in the 24th but it will be a new experience as I'm only used to cheap Chinese and entertaining Norrie as half of the Chuckle Brothers.
DeleteAh, the "I'm a poor pensioner routine".

ReplyDeleteBarry Cryer used to make a living out of lines like that. Peter Kay still does.
It's all fun and games till you have to carry it in your rucksack.

ReplyDeleteActually I was at the Riu Imperial Mahraba in April, I'm still in shock at what happened. Sympathies to those most directly affected.
DeleteThe Tunisians are a lovely, welcoming and helpful people.
Cannae imagine why anyone would think of doing that to innocent folk..
Apologies MacK, my rather sober message nothing to do with your comment!
DeleteJust me and thinking...
Nowhere is safe.
DeleteNot necessary DC
