I've definitely been overworking - no doubt about that.
Well, our hero must have been stung by it because I've never known Bryan to personally respond to the listeners before - but good on him. I didn't expect it and I think it's great that he did.
There's nothing wrong with apologising ( I probably was a little be overstated) and there's no U turn, either. I apologised for being too harsh, but the underlying criticism remains valid.
The lack of dialogue with the listeners is the real issue and always has been been.
In as much as there has been some movement on that, it is not a U turn to recognise and praise that movement for its own sake.
We are being promised that the criticisms will be discussed - you have to keep contributing to demonstrate that you're supporting the show, not simply detracting from it - otherwise, you might as well tune out.
I'm for influence and developing as good relationships as the listener can have and anything that might lead to improve things is okay with me.
Besides a stoochie no and again keeps things alive.
Henri, how long would you think to wait for things to improve, given that we were chucked off the blog 2 years ago for daring to question once too often? And that this current stooshie is only a re-run of the one they had in October. I don't know who it's keeping things alive for - Fergie? Margherita? Erik? You were doing alright up to the bit where you said you were mesmerised by the show. Seriously? Banging your head on a wall I'd say - the endless repetition of themes and songs says to me that either the folk who listen and have done so for years have no imagination whatsoever or are too taken up with hearing their own names on the radio to care what's played, or else there's a constant turnover of people who get fed up and move on.
I don't know why you feel you have to apologise to them for a reasonable criticism - they get 10 hours of prime-time to deliver in and what they give is mostly mince along with macaroni, pasta, inane giggling and The Proclaimers.
... and all the time Mac remains constant. What a given tonight & preprogramming ;-)
Being economical with the truth re the programming software is kinda like Swinney & European Commission reverses pensions decision not worrying for Scots company pensions.
I think we should all go to Glen's for the get-together, can't wait to try his home-made Crab, carrot and black truffle ravioli, in tarragon butter sauce and chard. Not as adventurous as washed lettuce leaves of course, or weaving around the kitchen dodging the dripping underwear, but I'm sure we can still have some fun.
..well it still works for me......in the car fuelling the black economy and its about food....so a quick sob story about ma maw's baking skills ( BB read about them in the grauniad a few years back)....an a wee connie francis before the lights had turned green.....an' then connie sparking a discussion about zips on a mini skirt....result or wit?
cheers frae the dale
(pps ahve nivver seen ctually seen A_f_R in Rio's but it's still my favourite pertick diner)
Senga walks into the Rio with a parrot on her shoulder and says "I'll go home with the first guy who comes closest to guessing the actual weight of my parrot!" Dale stands up and says, "45 pounds!" She replied, "That's close enough!"
So I broke my rule and had a look on feckbook. Wish I hadnae now. I see Eric Porter is the equivalent of the blog polis (does he stay near a suspension bridge I wonder?)
Well said Henri. And great restraint shown by Glen - the tablets must be working after all.
Henri has apologised - biggest U-turn since The Grand Old Duke Of York.
ReplyDeleteI think his U turn was a U turn on a previous U turn?
DeleteHe's back requesting Artie Shaw. Do you think he's been overworking?
DeleteI've definitely been overworking - no doubt about that.

Bryan's jacket must be on a shaky nail. Remember that you've already presented the show when the vacancy's advertised.

I would like to point out that since the turn of the year Gaie has scored thrice, DC once, and the rest of us nonce.
There, I always knew I had potential.

ReplyDeleteThere's dripping underwear here too but that's another story.
DeleteI'd suggest a Wetherspoon's in Glasgow.
DeleteFar too classy and expensive Glen.
DeleteWe now have a Wetherspoons in Alloa. It used to be a pound shop. Is that a step in the right direction or not?
DeleteErr no Billy Boy, if I have to go to Alloa it'd be to Kelliebank where they make the stuff.
DeleteI couldn't make it to Millport...the Weedge is just about do-able. I'll Skype yez. Jx
DeleteWhit... you've just been to John o Groats!
