  3. Billy, do you know about the Day of the Dead project - 59 Grateful Dead tracks covered by umpteen different bands/singers and produced by the Dessners (from The National)?

  6. I'm holding a wee competition to see whether the response time on this blog is quicker than that of my son to my texts. Winner gets a Royal Blood CD, played once only and in top condition apart from the music, which is execrable.

    2. I did try, I really did. After all I'd chosen it, possibly on the basis of half a track heard on a Glastonbury clip or summat.

On the plus side, really liking the Dead covers released today.

    2. It's on State Street (that great street) in the home of the deep pan pizza. Bonnie was on great form.

Whenever Bonnie is in Glasgow she always manages to drag Phil Cunningham onto the stage.

I'm looking forward to the GRCH gig.

           :o)

  10. Finally getting round to catching up and I see you nicked my Disco Stomp clip Billy.
But did you know the bloke doing the demo is an old mate of mine? A Belgian called William. In true Robin Hood fashion we know him as William the Belgian.

    4. Actually because of his dancing he was known as Willie Wiggler.
That didnt sit well with us over here so W t B became his moniker.

      Venues, I assume.

I fully expect Glen to request a Bonnie Raitt song, recently performed in the Windy City!

    3. Well I was at The Hydro last night for the first time. I don't expect to be there very often, given that my bands aren't usually arena-sized ones, but it did the job and I thought the sound was great. I went mainly for The Twilight Sad even though they were support, but they are just the best. Love them. Shura who were on first were OK and CHVRCHES did their thing spectacularly well, it's just not completely my thing. I read through some of the comments about the Hydro on their FB page and they vary hugely as expected. Some folks seemed to have pretty awful experiences, but some of the other moans - well

firstly we all know the food's extortionate - why would you go there planning to buy any if you don't wantt o spend a fortune?

pickpockets at a Libertines gig? And that's the fault of the stewards? Ahem, if you don't know your posket's been picked, how the hell is a steward who's not wearing your jacket supposed to spot it happening in a crowded standing area?

Over-zealous security checks? nowadays? Though it certainly wasn't the case last night. A swift bag search was all.

And while I sympathise with a mother being upset that her son't first gig experience was ruined because of where they were seated or not seated, or summat can't remember the details, I would have serious doubts about subjecting a 7 or 9 year-old's ears to the noise level and flashing lights. Speaking of which, the lights last night were fantastic. Don't know if they were home-made, but Shearwater (US band) , who played King Tut's recently, made much of having had their lighting and laser gloves made in Glasgow.

Someone moaning that everyone wasn't standing, even though they were in the seated area???
Anyhow, I seem to have turned into Henri. I blame lack of sleep.

    5. See, you try to bring a little controversy and variety into the non-convo and you just get told to shut up.

      It's all so deja vu.

      Wonder how Thing-fish is?

    4. Joanna Newsom: Time, as a Symptom - the GIO teatime listeners deserve it. Never come nearer to trashing my radio just to stop the pain when it was played on the Roddy Hart show a while back. Nice birdsong though.
