You're A Friend Of Mine

Yes who are your best musically buddies and what is the song that reminds you of them.

Heart of Glass perhaps? Dignity?

  1. sounds like a good opportunity to bombard FB and remind GIO of what they so callously threw away when they consigned us to the backwaters of non-bloggosphere.

    How was Roddy, Norrie?

    1. Really good Gaie. Some cracking new material which I suspect will be even better tonight having had a first outing. Listen out for one on the piano Going West possibly, Slider, Berlin and one maybe California Road Trip

    3. excellent night. Can't tell you what tracks I liked as I didn't catch what most of them apart from California Road Trip were called, but it was all really good and Tommy Reilly was too.

  2. Thanks for the shouts Billy. Did any make it?

Tuesday night has become LE Night right enough. Wonder if she is still camping.

  3. ...interesting dialogue on the stats being demanded from certain listeners sceptical about the frequency of plays of certain bands...i don't keep accurate records myself but can safely vouch that the airplay of Yesser performers is far in excess of their 45% entitlement...any martian eves-dropping would be forgiven for thinking that pop musics consists of a couple of bands from the dundee fife glasgow corridor...

    2. always enjoying a stramash I had a look to see what you were talking about. I've given up completely on the prog so hadn't even thought of making a request. I wish I had - I'd have asked for Tears by Frankie Miller in memory of the friend who introduced me to Frankie's music and who died less than a year ago. Do you think they'd have respected my choice? Played my choice? Absolutely not. Even with my SNP logo proudly displayed. Whatever that particular hypothesis means - don't get it myself. Anyhow.
BB and Miss B do talk some utter bilge.

    4. ..that the producer or whoever replies is an admission there is a case to answer...and there is...quite a serious one too..for example.....coisin a ruin.there are better versions of this...a much better version by none other than donnie dotaman.so an objective disc spinner might say well we have capercaillie quite a lot [i dont have the exact figures] so on this occasion lets try donnie dotaman's version with na h-oganaich...its not like they wouldn't know who they were...they've been around for about half a century..they could get around the thorny issue of no-one asking for this band by assuming the role of an anonymous texter....i basically dont think capercaillie are up to the mark anyway and they are full of bbc insiders...

    1. I dont think anyone can impersonate the LE.
She's an original. Dont know why you're not getting her over tae Glesgae.

    2. The LE drops an F-Bomb on both GIO and The Samaritans on the same day.
      Can't see Dale doing that.

    3. An odd assertion that the Tories are the Samaritans indeed

    4. Oh dear, she's been taken out. Scrubbed from the GIO FB page.
The LE scriptures lost to humanity.

    8. How do I know? Just scanned through the threads and she's gone.

Maybe she took herself off after seeing some "bloke" posting something about the "warm fuzziness of getting on GIO".

Is she still on Facebook? Dont know how to check that.

    9. Question was to Norrie - she's his "friend". I can't find her.

    10. She seems to have been reinstated.

    11. So she has!
How did that happen then? Weird.

Just as long as they were singles and we’ve all heard them.

The TRUE VOICE of REASON is correct. (Again).

"Fame" Really? When they could have played "Lady Grinning Soul" or

      "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide"?

I'm glad I was listening to Bob Harris Country!

      Meanwhile...

Was it requested on the Dark Side?

Someone with a hidden agenda, perhaps.

    5. I think it was a genuine mistake all round - the lyrics were new to me. I must never have been listening to it before.

      Delete
    6. Poor BB. I did feel sorry for him. Although...It was quite well publicised at the time so I'd have expected at least one member of the production team to know not to play it. Jx

    7.
Surely the B.B.C. should have rendered it unavailable, or at least attached a lyrical content warning.

    8. Was it that song? Really?
      I thought it was Peaches.

No excuses. There was a huge brouhaha when that bloke got sacked by Beeb for playing it. Not THAT long ago. Maybe not a great idea to have youngsters on the production team of a show whose playlist covers decades.
Now who would be better for jobs like that I wonder...

    9. Was it you Glen who requested it?
