November Spawned A monster....

  1. One or two contributors giving more information than required.

    1. I have to say, I question some of the choices on Cheggers' cd as being awful.

    3. Truly awful. It's a sad day when Son of my Father and Billy Don't Be A Hero are the standout tracks...

    4. No Mozz - the Git will be distraught...

    5. Cmon Billy, whats wrong with 13, 14, 16 and 20 as well on Disc 1?
OK, Disc 2 is a struggle...

    6. Suppose not...

    7. Quite good value, though, 40 tracks.

  2. ....cliff's complaint about being 65% down on airplay seems to have struck a chord at GIO....

    cheers frae the dale

  3. ....and while i'm on the subject, how come some people around here get a personal note from BB...on f/b of all places ...thats heavy embarrassing....

    cheers frae the dale

    1. Some even have the GruppenfĂŒhrer as a friend.

    2. They can't shut Facebook down.

    3. It's an obsession with celebrity... Producers aren't presenters, neither are they gourmet chefs & that bloomin laugh. Who in their right mind thinks that having a loud laugh somehow ingratiates themselves to others.

      Nope, all surplus to requirements.

    4. I nominate AfR to get a bloody Farcebook account & takeover for a while, he's got a way with words.

    5. No comment in case it's tidied by the blogmeister (;-)

    6. You dont want me over there MM. You wouldn't like me over there.
As to Billy and Glen getting personal messages - its a classic case of divide and rule. They've already got Norrie and Julie, Billy too now probably, but to get Glen would be like Farage walking over the Glienicke Bridge to join the Labour party.

  4. Tonight's prediction:

Arthur’s Theme (The Best That You Can Do) – Christopher Cross

    1. New Amsterdam by Elvis C
      New York (live) by Madge
      New York by T. Cranberries
New York State Police by T. UK Subs

    2. Good list Billy.
      Whats the theme?

    3. I was being ironic Billy.
Anyway, "New York" must be giving "Space" a run for its money on the most times as a theme chart.
So much so you're not going to get a full point for each correct predo. The European Golden Shoe rules apply here, where we give a weighting according to the easiness of the theme. In the case of "New York" its half a mark each.

    4. Exactly Adam, get yersel onto Farcebook please.

    5. I answered you above...

    6. Don't play hard to get.

    7. That weighing seems s bit harsh...

    8. ...though probably academic as after two for two it's gone s bit Pete Tong 😠

  5. Norrie, New York Telephone Company

    1. Sorry MM not getting that one. Conversation?

    2. Bell Records = Showaddywaddy

    3. Suggestions Norrie nothing more.

  6. Adam, 'they' don't have me. Not yet anyway...

  7. I cannae believe you lot are joinin in wi feckbook.

    1. You have a nice boat. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

  8. Thought it might be apt to re-post DC's "Address tae a Blogger"

Fair fa' yer honest sonsie face,
Great Chieftans o' the Blogging Race,
Abune them aw ye tak yer place,
    Mail, Text or Facebook,
Aw your music is good taste,
    Fae Gong tae Dr Hook

    Springsteen, Bowie, Floyd and PIL
    Kassidy, Lulu, Jansch and Tull
We mak' oor lists, we mak' them still
    Tho' themes repeat
Of space and colours we've had oor fill
    Lost jotter indeed!

Folk tell o whit they're aboot tae eat
Risotto or quiche, langoustine or meat
A glass o' wine seems the norm no' a treat
    Nae common ale!
In kitchens a' ower they jig tae the beat
    Or text wi' a tale

No' a' folks are eagerly clearing their plate
Some drivin' hame or stuck on the M8
Or rushin' wi' weans tryin' no' tae be late
    To karate class
It helps when the songs and tunes are a' greaaayyyt
    Then we're no sae fasht

We tune in efter six wi' oor lugs pinned back
We're hopin' tae hear that favourite track
We've ploughed our collection, looked through the stack
    Spotified or Googled
We want sangs and mair sangs, nae yakety yak
    Keep the gigglin' frugal!

    The groaning producer’s here again
    Her hurdies? Dinnae mention them,
She tries her best, but it’s aye the same
    Playlist debate
Blog sangs ignored again an again
    Fae six til eight

Bryan’s knife see rustic labour dight,
Cuts playlist up wi' ready sleight,
”We’re no playin that the nicht!”
    Babs, take a look!
Switch on the Mac an hae a sicht,
    What’s on Facebook “

Then, sang for sang, they stretch an' strive:
Deil tak the bloggers! On they drive,
Till a' the weel-kaint sangs revive
    In themes like “Drums”;
Then auld Burnett, maist like to rive,
    Bethankit! Hums.

”We’ll hae tae pit on Blondie noo
An’ sangs that widnae flee a coo!”
Proclaimers? Thon wad make ye spew
    An thump yer fist,
Wha’ takes a sneering, scornfu' view
    O’ sic a playlist?

Poor devils! Listenin tae sic trash,
    As feckless as wither'd rash,
    What they’re needin’s a guid whip-lash,
    Tae bring them roond!
Nae mair tracks like “Monster Mash” :
    Play Bloggers soonds!

For mark the Blog, they urnae dull,
Their trembling earth resounds tae Tull,
Bragg an Floyd, turn them up full
    An shake the trees
Liked fae Fife Ness tae Soond o Mull,
    Wick tae Dumfries .

Ye Pow'rs, wha’s playlist taks the air,
And dishes oot this bill o' fare,
    Beeb Scotland has tae take mair care;
    They’ve waited long
    Hear the Bloggers gratefu' prayer
    An’ Get It On!

    1. Aye, those were the days

    2. Aye, better than "tell us aboot yer favourite disco!"

    3. The Bloggers were the radio equivalent of the Glasgow Empire audience - discerning and forthright.

    4. Enlightenment & GIO Producers shall never meet.

    5. So knowledgeable that the Snr Producers makes yet another mistake.

    6. Well done Adam, my internet is doon
Enough tae mak mah heid gawn roon
I phoned an got an Indian for me
Said he worked for us at BT
After he'd heard what I had to say
He assured me I'd be fixed next Tuesday
He asked about switches and which way I'd turn it
I told him to go and ask Brian Burnett
I was not pleased my internet had gone
So told the man, you must Get It On

  9. ..they don't do irony fo sho...

    cheers frae the dale

  10. Punch Brothers breathtaking tonight. Siobhan Miller (with James Grant) also very good.

    1. Great stuff Glen glad you enjoyed it. I was at the Another Country broadcast and it was utterly superb.

    2. If this "bring an' tell", Shooglenifty 25 plus Oiléain and Dhol Drummers!

      No celebrity credits required.

    3. Fairport Convention and Roaming Roots Revue. Particularly liked Colin McLeod and Rachel Sermanni together.

    4. JD McPherson rocked the ABC tonight but I think the sheer musicianship of Chris Thile's Punch Brothers has become my yardstick for live performance.

    5. a truly great concert leaves you buzzing for days, weeks even, but then how to follow? I'm at that now - Robert Plant was right up there for me, not just the band, but the warmth and love within the audience. 3 gigs later and they were all good. But...

    6. I've decided to sell up and follow them round the world.

    7. Don't just take my word.

    8. Honestly never heard of them but I am now going to get some of their cd's - some reviewe.

    9. Does Rye Whiskey make GIO sound better, Glen?

  11. Good to see my Underground getting a shout on FB on Friday.

  12. That's Demis Roussos gone. Perhaps we'll be able to see the sun again.

    1. Another s. ad day - where is Henri when we need him in these dark hours..

    2. Get him on tonight.
He mentions Rainbow in "Forever and Ever"
      (Demis that is, not Henri)

    3. Julie could organise it...

    4. Oops. Sorry Glen. Just seen your post on the other side.
Feel a bit like a Gino Satti but honestly I posted before I looked!

    5. Great minds. Are you that familiar with his lyrics? I had to look it up.
