Nice backtrack though.
Do you think I got away with it?
It's not The First Attack he's made on one of my favourites...he'll maybe do it One Too Many Times for my liking and have to come Cap In Hand to say S_O_R_R_Y and ask forgiveness. But...Life With You lot on this blog is pretty amusing in the main so I'll consider the matter Over And Done With and Persevere Jx
Will he send you a letter from America though?
Well, he's a Restless Soul' so will no doubt be off on The Long Haul again soon. He'll likely just post "I'm On My Way folks" on this blog and we'll not hear from him for a couple of months...never a card, never a phone call... ;o) Jx
Previously on the blog. Brazil looks seriously unprepared.
Whats happened now???
It'll all be fine.
Glasgow has purchased a new fleet of sedan chairs for the Commonwealth Games.
Whats the verdict on "Children of the Universe" then? Its got a similar message to my all time Euro fave, "Power to all our Friends" and that came third. Molly could learn from Cliff's dance routine maybe.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAOwf78KKmY
It should be finished in time for the contest.
Don't expect a large vote for Russia.
Wee Eck will vote for them.
Apparently he's been seen posing bare-chested on a horse.
One for tonight's show - Brendon.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mvlhi4KrVMCheck out the Top 30 intro and what a Top 30!! (Note the top 5, Norrie). When the charts were charts!
A few years earlier Norrie.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeGPpwFpIAA
I don't remember Brendon at all - looks like Steve Winwood. Tony Burrows was on everything then.
F.F.S. get with the programme you lot. In an Independent Scotland it is / we will win the Eurovision Song Contest every time. I got Alex Neil on the case & I'm expecting him to mix in with audience in order secure the Balkans Block voting. Russia have also promised to Putin.
Tomorrow's show.84 is maybe not the best year of that fantasic decade for music and hair but there are one or two gems to be found.Swansway are there Mac.So are a lot of Smiths and Queen...
Sounds like last night's show.
...and the one before
Here, aye.Do you think Bryan's shot his bolt??Queen and The Smiths both on Wednesday night means he couldnt possibly play them again on Friday night....
1984 oh aye the break through year for The Boss, rarely played on GIO so would be good to hear etc.
Nice but Soul Train didn't chart too well as I recall.
Top 20. Good enough I'd say.
NEWSFLASH!Jambos lie doon tae Jags!! Cabbage doomed!!! >8-D

Oh Ha Ha! (wait till I see you...ready yourself for a Chinese burn!). Jx
Yangtze or Yellow? We should be telt....
I cannot get excited about 1984. Duran Duran? Better forgotten.
Of the 80's years it isnt one of the better ones, I have to say. However, you could still put together a half decent show from it.Henri will be in with Pipes of Peace no doubt.
Meanwhile on the other side...Glen, if I were a FBooker I would have been right back at you with 1974!!
It's a bit of an odd anniversary to celebrate right enough.
Is this Harry Pearce getting in close to Putin??http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27344029
Disguised as a general?Am I the only one thinking of this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndP7fzbz9rY
A poor chauffeur. H kept trying to make a right turn but the driver ignored him
Some would say he couldn't go further right.
TUESDAY Ode de Toilet (The Toilet Song) - Brad Paisley
Saw Beatles biographer Mark Lewisohn last night. The first volume (1845-1962) took him ten years but he expects to finish the third in 14 years. Seems Macca not such a nice man.
Why do these books have to be so long? I battled my way through Ian Bell's Dylan tome and I'll not be tackling another any time soon. It's not for lack of interest, I just can't be bothered wading through all the minutiae to get to the what they were/are like as people bits. Such a philistine. I just gave up on Booker winner The Luminaries at page 350 - it's 842 pages long, 500 pages too long. However, I never knew the Beatles started in 1845, so maybe you could precis the rest of the book for us, Glen? the juicy bits about nasty Macca. Quick before Henri comes along all guns blazing.
Macca has always struck me as being pretty thick.
It goes back to the Irish potato famine. It's a work of real scholarship with no stone unturned - faces appearing in old photographs are tracked down and interviewed. Lewisohn used to work for McCartney and was supposed to work on a biography but resigned to write the Beatles book instead. McCartney was apparently very nasty to Stuart Sutcliffe before he died. They were all pretty strong characters apparently - Lennon said it - "You have to be a bastard to make it. That's a fact. And the Beatles were the biggest bastards on Earth."
All these mind games....
This is all very well but is the book as good as the Mighty Mozz auotobiography?
This is all very well but is the White Album anygood?
........on madras college maths department website there used to be a fotae of macca's maths jotter from school....he was pretty hot on algebraic fractions.....but then i read in a newspaper that he was throwing pelters at david blaine when he was hoisted in his glass case..which made me ponder that perhaps macca was a jekyll and hyde character....although i like his choice of residence down there in rye..... he was glad aw they wee neds came out in force when he broke down at drumchapel services where btw you get an excellent roll and square sausage...cheers frae the dale
roll and square sausage = shorter life expectancy = bigger pension

Aye, Norrie MacLean, nae wunner ye removed yon request furr Ellie Goulding oan Tuesday's show!Whit urr ye like?
Now now...your favourite Edinburger-Cancerian will be angry with you for slagging-off one of her favourites...ever since she saw her as a support act! You really do want a Chinese burn don't you! Jx
Hmmm. I didn't see that one coming. DOH! (_8^(|)
Ellie Goulding's OK compared with Angus and Julia Stone.
Meanwhile on the other side...I see the big lists have started. They'll blame you Glen.
Sometimes I hate myself. Big problems with Commonwealth Games ticket sales. I'm a bit concerned about the traffic arrangements - they are advising walking or cycling - but at least the venues are just about ready.
Is anyone coming to compete?
Just a few locals, but they'll lose interest when they find out there's no prize money.
The Daughter (Catriona...we probably know each other well enough to tell you(se) her actual name now)...has tickets to 2 CG events...and I'm guest of honour. I wonder if it's true that hotel prices have rocketed because of the games...and are they putting on extra trains to Edinburgh? Can't say I relish busy-train travel...it's bad enough normally. Jx
Meanwhile on the other side...Good to see some asking for rules clarification on the theme. One of the suggestions, "Aye, Aye, Aye Moosey" by Modern Romance, (not a one hit wonder, obviously) reminded me that it was used as a chant by Aberdeen fans back in the 80s along the lines of - "Aye, aye, aye Doug Rougvie".
Could have been a shout for the theme a few weeks back. Don't worry I'm sure it'll be repeated (;-)
There's a few suggestions that aren't one hit wonders including Our Henri's shout for Atomic Rooster.
Pretty sure it wont have been considered because of that! For an "easy theme" there will be a bit of work to be done by the production team....
Lack of research has been levelled at said production team on the other side.
They'd better watch themselves or they might get the "we've been looking at our communication methods and it's time to update things" post fae PQ
