    2. I can't think that marmalade on Gypsy Creams is a good idea.

I was in Millport today - where were the rest of you?

I was in the Kingdom this afternoon, albeit briefly. Dalgety Bay for ten minutes then south ower the brig and westwards tae the dear green place.

    4. That dear green place isnae very green but I agree it's quite expensive

    5. It'll get greener once they've cleared the site of the Red Road flats, I suppose, though to be fair, I think as cities go, it's not bad for big open public spaces. When I was a kid the big floral displays in Victoria Park were stunning.

Yesterday I was at my desk first thing in Wit's End, then: -to a paint- sprayer in South Street, Byres Road to a cafe/deli/restaurant, Giffnock to a property company ,then Queenslie to a communications company in between sorting a revenue & customs bond issue for a distillery as I moved between locations.I shoved off home about 4:30pm.

I guess it wasn't as serene as Milllport but it was an interesting and productive day which would have been perfectly rounded off by hearing "Monkberry Moon Delight" on GIO.

Inevitably, it was not to be.

    4. Don't like them either. Anyhow, I'm so excited. I've been asked to record a hit single for the YES Campaign.

      It's a kind'a cover version, Caledonia Ub... http://youtu.be/quLqEu4mUOU

    5. so why were you asking about The Biffy as I believe their fans call them?

Oh Mr G, I do realise 80s bands must seem quite new and radical to Grandads and fans of Nana Mouskouri, and talking of which did you make your big decision yet?

I was at a wee music thing today in Gourock - Go-Rock, geddit, organised by kids from the music department at James Watt, sorry, West Scotland College. Just a load of young singers and bands playing a few pubs for around 30 mins each but it was great fun though we only saw a fraction of what was on. The proceeds were going to Nordoff-Robbins and all in all seemed like a good effort.
Mind you, one duo said they' were going to do Free Falling by John Mayer and I realised that still at school, they weren't even born when Full Moon Fever was recorded. An 80s song right enough.

    6. Ach, no reason really but given their popularity I thought I was missing out on something big. Anyhow, I've got my own hit to cut.

  6. Where were you on 10th april? Was that a theme I missed? If so can I suggest the Indigo girls 'This train revised' as I was in Auchwitz Birkenau. Thankfully I got back out again.

    1. That's given me an idea.
Why not build Salt Pans on the former MOD sites of Faslane, Coulport & Rosyth? We'd be European Leaders & kick Ibiza's industry into touch and we'd be European market leaders. You don't fancy a job as European Economic Policy Director?

      Delete
    2. I fear some site preparation would be required. There are, however, many alternative locations which could be considered, known in the salt extraction industry as "beaches". The Israelis have some experience at the southern Dead Sea but I believe they have slightly warmer summers than Scotland.

  8. Interesting thought about royalty payments - re Glen's comment on FB - 3/4 of Deacon Blue are employed by the BBC. Where's the corporation's impartiality noo? Eh? Eh?

    1. Perhaps they donate it to charity. People do ask for them. It didn't occur to me that there could be something untoward.

      Delete
    2. Nah, it's untoward alright! A Grecian 2000 habit isn't cheap. Reckon the drummers got a habit too.

      Delete
    3. as you say, people do ask for them, and obviously no-one in Queen works for the BBC as far as I know. But if 55 zillion people have Queen's greatest hits, why do they still get any airplay AT ALL. No-one needs to hear them on the radio. The whole playlist thing confounds me.

      Delete
    4. You could have an organisation monitoring sales and reducing airplay. When a band was really successful you'd never hear them. So you would only hear the mince.

      Delete
    5.
How would we be able to tell the difference? The G.I.O. audience has an insatiable appetite for mince.

      Indeed, I salute its insatiability!

      Delete
    6. I deplore its insatiability and I think, Glen, you're just being argumentative, which is not like you. We've all lobbied endlessly for lesser-known tracks and artists to get played.

Well anyway, who cares. I'll be sitting in the sunshine listening to the ipod, where I choose the music.

      Doctor, “It’s not unusual.”

Off to the Glasgow Film Theatre this evening to see That Sinking Feeling

Also, the G.F.T. bar stocks St. Mungo's lager, which I heartily recommend.

(Pure heavenly). Their words, not mine. I would, however, agree.
