  2. Somebody should point out to B Doig on Facebook that "Mama Told Me Not To Come" was a hit in 1970. Plus "Handbags and Gladrags" was only released as a single by Rod in the USA and that was 72.
Maybe his first album wasnt the greatest hits of 1973 after all.

Can i just say, having dropped in and read back, and made sense of Scotch's texts last week, that I didn't get a theme played last week...unless they found Gaie's jotter from the last decade. . In fact I haven't suggested a theme or a request or managed a listen since the bygone days of Englandshire being a dry country.
What's the themes this week then? Have we done a referendum theme yet? there's loads of referendum songs.

    3. I couldn't begin to choose just one, but certainly Runrig at Barrowland are always brilliant. Donnie's farewell at Stirling Castle was obviously memorable and then our first post-Donnie gig in Greenock Town Hall kicked off a whole new and vastly enlivened era. . The Silencers Burns Night gig for Cha Burns (ABC) shortly before he died will always be a stand-out memory - the atmosphere was unbelievable. Tribes at Òran Mòr last year were first-rate and they'd have been brilliant at Barrowland. Sadly they're no more. Didn't see that one coming.

There's so much discussion on FB on the Apollo page and so many folks with happy memories, but though I saw the Stones there and I'm sure must have been blown away at the time, I can't actually 'feel' what it was like at all any more it was so long ago. Eric Clapton, Edinburgh Playhouse - that was good. So was BB King with Robert Cray.
      And so it goes.

My all-time stand-out gig will surely always be Tom Petty at RAH. But then that's not in Scotland.
