A multi-instrumentalist is a musician who plays two or more musical instruments with some degree of proficiency.

If Wikipedia says so, it must be true!

Mmmm. Michael Marra, maybe. (They won't play Ian Anderson).

  12. Well minded SG! Indeed, my first album purchase was Arcade's 20 Fantastic Hits.

I think we should come up with the definitive GIO compilation album. Twenty tracks for the "Now Thats What I Call Get It On" LP.
    (Other titles are available)
Then Metro Sex or Julie Tsook can put it on F***book and get the Erics in a flutter.

  14. It would be easy to come up with 5 each from Queen, Blondie, Cash and The Ps, so max two tracks per artist.

Criteria? I'll steal one from Norrie, who will probably suggest Smiffs songs anyway.

Wasteland of the Free - Iris DeMent

A surprising number of Jethro Tull songs have been played on the show over the years. I assume we must suggest songs which have been played on the show. Bob Harris's favourite -

Life is a Long Song - Jethro Tull

      One for Senga,

      Heaven - Do

A lovely cover of the Bryan Adams classic.

One which has been played several times, although not recently -

      For You - Judie Tzuke

      Rat'll do rinoo.

  15. OK I'll get things moving. Poor old Billy has probably called in his secretary for a bit of overtime...

    "Since Youv'e Been Gone" Rainbow
    "Bicycle Race" - Queen
    "Jackson" - Johnny Cash
    "Call Me" - Blondie
    "500 Miles" - Proclaimers
    "Oliver's Army" - Elvis Costello
    "Angel of Harlem" - U2
    "Rio" - Duran Duran

(I can listen to With or Without You sometimes, depending on my mood).

I don't want to play any more.

    2. This is played more often:

      "Hurt" - Johnny Cash.

      A secretary? I wish.

  16. surely we don't ever want to listen to any of them again, this is a wee CD for GIO listeners to play when they're picking up the weans from brownies before going home to rhubarb risotto with chilli chick peas and mange-tout mash.

Swim till You Can't Reach Land - Frightened Rabbit
    London's Calling - The Clash
    This Charming Man - Smiths
Walking on Broken Glass - Annie Lennox
Walking on the Moon - the Police
Thin Lizzy - the Boys are Back in Town

      Gaie,

The inclusion of Thin Lizzy in a list of songs we never again wish to hear is a provocative provocation designed to provoke a response from the Southern hemisphere.

Besides, you forgot The Beach Boys.

    2. Hmm. Forgot about that, don't want to risk him putting a stone through ma windae on his way down to Inverkip.

      Scrub TL, substitute Lieutenant Pigeon.

    3. Ah'll no be provoked...
I'll give you your Smiths, Clash and Police. Is that the Annie Lennox track to go with though?

      Adding

"Dont Stop Me Now" - Queen
      and
"Touched By your Presence Dear" - Blondie

      Considering
"Somewhere in My Heart" - Aztec Camera
      "The Beat" - The Look
      "Modern Love" - David Bowie

Trying to think of the most played Adam and the Ants track.

    4. Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - The Eurythmics

      They can't spell rhythm

    5. On Annie Lennox I'd go for 'Why?'. I just don't get the fuss about Freightened Rabbit - great inclusion Gaie.
