This new sombre tone for the blog does not appear to be a vote winner. I'm sure a number of us are or have been affected by this or other problems and come here for a little light relief. Not today.
They might have cheered us up the first couple of times, but now they're on the 25th repeat we're getting a bit jaded. Those of us that remember them being done before anyway.
At the Arthur Lee gig in The Liquid Room, his support, a large singer-songwriter announced a song by saying, "You ain't gonna like this one." In a moment of playfulness I suggested that he might be better to omit it. In what I thought was an excessive reaction he fixed me with his eye and suggested that I perform an unnatural act on him. I watched the rest of his performance in silence.
At the risk of repeating myself .. Scotch did a Blue Suede Shoes joke, I smacked a guy at a Cramps gig who was sick on my shoes.. ach he had it coming!
Going back to theme... I'm always getting pissed off with my memory so imagine the irony when listening to Pick of the Pops this morning and I remembered every word in "Spiders and Snakes" & "The Streak".
what a gig yesterday.......we were the warm up for Muse......and 1500 cyclists descending on Horse Guards Parade.......we rehearsed in the civil service club just off whitehall down new scotland yard.........near the seat of government.
now back on theme..............a couple of years back my mother escaped her captors fell and broke her hip while trying to walk to her childhood home at the tap o' the hill.she was picked up (literally) by the police and spent custody in ninewells hospital with a broken hip.
I actually found the music quite depressing in the care home and i think the residents did too...people dont necessarily want to go back to their youthful era and will also enjoy music which reminds them of their children and events throughout their lives........what always cheered up every resident in the home was the entrance of my wee dog.......then people did become animated and recounted tales of their own pets........crystal clear......
so a few recordings of different breeds of dogs barking would be good....gies a paw son.
