Talking about Chirpy cheep cheep.. I forgot to mention that on Monday I walked past a Record (CD?) Shop on a small sidestreet in downtown Rio and "Soley Soley" was blasting out the door. I was quite taken aback. Unfortunately I was in a hurry so couldnt go in to investigate further. Perhaps thats a theme. Unexpected songs emanating from doorways.
Talking about being taken aback - that photo of Brian and the bear on the GIO site is a bit suggestive is it not?
I chose silence tonight, but just looked at the playlist - absolutely dire. Both Henri's faves - Dignity & Bohemian Rhapsody, then add the Proclaimers & Annie Lennox - and they did - and you have to marvel that with all the music in all the world GIO could continue to keep its horizons so firmly stuck in its own back garden. Nellie the Elephant, 2 current pop songs, the annoyingly-spelled CHVRCHES and a bundle of a thousand times repeated dross. Eclectic? Gimme strength.
But Gaie it's what the listener wants! My recent experiment proved that despite a sustained period of inane ranting if the the shout was both popular and obvious they'd play it. Kate Bush ~ Them Heavy People and The Proclaimers ~ Throw The R Away. What wasn't a surprise was if Ms Baps was producing no accreditation was forthcoming .. tee hee! Honestly, Born Again Get It On'er.. it's all part of my media studies dissertation lol.
Gaie, this was always going to be the case with a sing a long theme. Popular/populist/whatever. Still requested Captain Beefheart as I like to sing along with him. Maybe somebody else does too?
Billy - Dweezil did Debra Kadabra at HMV Picture House in Embra last night. I don't know the name of the DVV impersonator but he remembered all the words without a crib sheet (unlike Don). Brilliant!
It also proves there is absolutely no relationship between 'them' and the 'punter'. They may use language that would suggest there to be one but all that matters to they is a popular, easy listening, ratings winning drive time show. A concept some have failed to grasp.
Really.. rabbitin' on about making a Korma at 11:00 in the morning before his shift is merely buying time whilst the Snr. Producer struggles to locate the next track ;-)
I wonder - which will be more popular tonight - Who's Been Talking? (Joe Bonamassa) or Jive Talking? Tell you what, I'll just check my ipod for which has had the most plays. Oh silly me, Jive Talking's not on it. Best listen tonight then, eh? Or then again, no.
It has to be Bryan's theme song:

It was probably playing inside your head after Alison again.
DeleteThat picture reminds me of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
More Lawrence of Arabia I'd say.
DeleteBurnett channels O'Toole, yes.
DeleteBrokeback Mountain?
Friday's theme is silence & talking.
Shouldn't it be silence & noise? Or talking & not talking?

I also requested Them Heavy People more in hope than expectation as I'd only heard Wuthering Heights on GIO before.

DeleteBut Billy you always get a mention because you're a rational contributor.

We all know that's the concept, so why do they insist on pretending it's something else? Fraudulent misrepresentation.
