I was watching Skyfall which surprisingly includes an Animals track, the remains of whom are playing with Steve Cropper in Celtic Connections a Glasgow concert season like Mayfest, during which I saw Warren Zevon in The Fruitmarket in 2000. Creepy or what?
Recently on PM we discussed stars and their fondness for farewell tours. The Stones, Barbra, Cher. A colleague remembered her dad dragging her to a Stones concert when she was ten because "you'll never have a chance to see them play live again". She recently died of old age.
An excerpt from Eddie Mair's column in Radio Times.
Even if she saw them at the age of 10 in 1962, you don't die of old age at 60. I'm glad to say I've never seen Eddie Mair's column and this story cannot be true.

I think it was more "Where are they now?" and (I may be in a minority here) my shelves have not groaned under the weight of this man's musical output for some time.

Maybe. There are a lot of men at pianos who have Gilbert to thank for paving the way - Elton, Barry Manilow, Billy Joel, Dean Friedman,Christopher Cross. Even Rupert Holmes wouldnt have been around if it hadnt been for G O'S.
Good - glad to hear it - though it's a bit corny, I think, I'm sure we can do better. I didn't hear the show, so haven't a scoobie what you are on about, but anything that advances the neuro-association between "henri hannah" and "show" in people's mind is always welcome.
It's a thematic request show.I contribute, the show sometimes gives me something back that I enjoy. Many others do too. That's what's supposed to happen but hey -ho,listening ain't compulsory. I believe radio 6 is quite eclectic (within narrow historical genre specific definitions but is even less democratic).
And I ain't hiding behind 'annoymous' to contribute here either so.... feel free to identify yourself..who the f*** is Alice?
