This Means Nothing To Me

So Vienna is a lovely city but I hear I missed some great gigs and an appearance onstage (or at least backstage) from Gaie at the Barras.

In breaking news from the Git an excellent new album by John Prine just released.

Nor sure what themes are on this week however you will be aware that Mr B Springsteen is on Simon mayo this week. I have submitted my question and breath is held.

Glen - Miami Steve playing in London on the 28th first time headlining in 30 years I believe. Surely not...

  1. Norrie (from previous blog) - JMJ and Buzzcocks were both excellent.

Glad you had a good time in Vienna. Do you have any time for work these days?

  2. I'd heard that Mr B Springsteen is chatting to Mr S Mayo this week. I hope you get your question read out.

    1. What are the questions Norrie?
I would ask if he ever regretted having had a sax player as permanent member of the band. Does he get on with Jon Bon Jovi and was he miffed he didnt get on The Sopranos.

    2. I liked Man of Moon a lot when they supported Twilight Sad last December. Given that I was never a fan of or indeed knew anything about Arab Strap until I worked with Mrs M, I enjoyed the gig a lot. Thought the atmosphere was a bit lacking but Mrs M said it had been better on the Saturday, when I guess the die-hard fans were all there. However, having been backstage at Barrowland is now top of my CV and sure to impress.

Going to see Emma Pollock at our very own Beacon tonight.

    3. Emma Pollock was brilliant. Ridiculously playing to an audience of around 50 people I'd say. Great for us who went, as they held it in the studio room upstairs, sat cosily at tables. Not much of a moneyspinner for the Beacon though. Really don't know what the problem is with Inverclyde and anythihg that's not a tribute act, or something their own weans are performing in.

    4. That's a shame Gaie. Similar story for the Man of Moon gig. If the support acts hadn't been in the audience then there wouldn't have that many folk left.

    5. Back at the Tolbooth towards the end of next month for the Strange Behaviours festival so hopefully the turnout will be better. Not heard of most of the acts but looking forward to seeing RM Hubbert and Rick Redbeard.

  4. I heard quite a lot of the Bruce interview on the road home from Arran last night. He certainly did a lot of laughing.
