If you could see Odessa whilst swimming in the sea on Jan 3, I suspect Odessa would be the last thing you would see whilst swimming in the sea.

    1. Awful game.
I have noticed that every game has the same FIFA music playlist.
"Thunderstruck" is the highpoint. Full volume just before the teams come out. "Happy" to crowd shots on the big screens, you get twice pre game and at half time. Presumably it doesnt work for the losers so it doesnt get another run after full time.

  16. Oh help, Robert Plant coming to Glasgow in November, 3 days before John Mayall. Can't not go, can I? I know, I'll ask myself what would Norrie do if 2 concerts came up in the same week? Oh well that's easy then.

    1. Book Robert Plant. John Mayall is 96 and has stopped buying LPs.

      Delete
    2. I've already booked John, just because he was so good a couple of years ago - well he's got a great band round him, so even if the carers take him off to bed early the rest can carry on. So it'll have to be the two in one week; I'll just look on it as a festival of geriatrics, and by going along myself I'm proving that they appeal to the younger element as well.

  37. howdie, folks, brief interlude before returning to the sun-worshipping. Was at The National gig in the Usher Hall last night. Stupendous. They're a whole lot heavier and rockier live than on their albums. Place was jumping - downstairs was standing and was jam-packed. I was upstairs and half thought I'd have rather been in the melee, but the other half thought it was great to have an unimpeded view and I was also grateful to the two decent lads beside me who stayed put and didn't join the endless traipsing to and fro to the bar that so many others did. Anyway, the place rocked and the atmosphere was brilliant.

Also I have to put in a word for the Edinburgh trams - knew I'd have to drive or risk walking home from Glasgow. Didn't fancy paying the £15 fee in a car-park or even ddriving 25 times round Edinburgh in an effort to find car-park. Ingliston Park and Ride then a tram. £1.50. Sorted.

    ReplyDelete
  38. .one of the positive spin-offs for west coasters that.....having spoken to quite a few random edinburgh people no one as yet has used it......so i carried out my own research....a few weeks ago i monitored the tram arriving and departing the airport while waiting for our leader to come off a plane.....maybe three trams arrived.... no one got off....then three departed ....no one got on......and not a single stray reveller......you can park at the car park at holyrood for free at night so long as you dont mind walking past the woolly jumper shops and the worlds end.....

    cheers frae the dale

    1. 34 minutes airport to Princes Street - quicker walking.

      Delete
    2. nope, the whole point was not having to drive into Edinburgh. I suppose if whatever it was was likely to go on past the last tram time then Holyrood would be OK, but I was happy with park & ride. I did spend the afternoon yesterday in Holyrood park and up on the crags - what a wonderful place to have right at the city doorstep.

      Delete
    3. wouldn#t have a clue how to get from the airport to Princes Street on foot, but I guess it would be fun tripping up all those folks with your suitcase on wheels?

      Delete
    4. It would take you forever to walk into town from the airport but there are buses from there to Waverley Bridge (opp railway station). So, can anyone tell me, is the tram terminus actually at the airport...like, footsteps away, not a long walk? I've heard conflicting views. Only person I know who's used the tram (apart from Gaie) is Barabara Wallace...so no Edinburghers. Jx

      Delete
    5. ...in fact, I've still not met anyone in Edinburgh who thinks the trams are a good idea. The bus drivers are moaning because the buses are being delayed by sometimes 50 mins and they blame the trams for that Jx

      Delete
    6. It was a friend of mine who complained about the journey time on the tram. Obviously you can't have service trams and expresses on the same line.
